"McDonald's has won approval to offer courses which could form part of a qualification at the standard of A-levels or advanced Diplomas."

"The standard of these credits will range from Level 2 to Level 3."

"Level 3 is at the standard of an A-level or an advanced level Diploma."

What exactly the diploma offers

Apparently this is a way out for students after GCSE's, and the government believe this will boost the number of skilled workers, which are lacking in the country...hmmm

Perhaps if economic science were to be drilled into kids' brains, they'd have respect enough for money to learn ways to earn it more effectively. As it is, it's hard to get a kid interested in spending his free time on stuff like that when, on one hand, he has a new Super Mario Brothers game and could probably beat it in a couple hours and, on the other, five dollars and an offer to be taken to the bank to stand in a long line and create a savings account, where it will grow by an incredibly-lame amount of whoopty-doo cents that he could've otherwise doubled by spending said time combing the street and couch cushions for loose change.

I know which one I would've chosen when I was 12...

'Datsa so nice!'

Well done, you now have 3 or 4 fake qualifications, please visit the stands to my left if you want to apply for a third rate university or proceed to the main hall to be treated to a fine cuisine of Big Mac and chips

This will never happen at KFC, the no teeth retarded twats who seem to work in all KFC's have trouble speaking let alone reading or even knowing what education is.

An employee on one of these McDonald's courses will not be able to complete a whole A-level or advanced Diploma - only part of one.

Theoretically, the fast food giant could design a course which was equal to a whole A-level but it would have to be evaluated.  McDonald's is one of the first three firms to be given awarding boding status but the QCA hopes more firms will do the same.
From what I understand from the article and a basic understanding of the school system in the UK, isn't it just work-related credits that apply toward a diploma?  You guys don't already have a system like that in place?  We have something similar in California (and other areas) called ROP  I don't think it's a bad thing at all, but different areas of economy should also partake.
