As previously stated, the medic will be first to receive the upgrades. The first earned weapons is the Overhealer. Unlocked by earning 35 achievements, the "gun" can permanently raise an ally's health to 200% (the current medic tool temporarily boosts health to 150%). Citing balance concerns, Valve said they may remove the invulnerability-granting Ubercharge from the Overhealer. The second unlockable weapon is also a healing ray (what? No shotgun?), but no details were given except that you have to earn all medic class achievements to unlock it.
Would that Overhealer appeal to you, regardless of it has ubercharge or not? It would appeal to me, best start whoring the Medic now

Yup. Aside from the lack of ubercharge, it seems far far more powerful than the current healing thingymajiggy.

It heals people a lot more, and permanently. It pretty much outclasses the current one. Sounds a bit too powerful for my liking actually. I really can't see how they're going to balance this.

The entire team at double health > one ubercharged guy.

Still, the other one will still be needed every now and then.

"permanently raise an ally's health to 200%"

a heavy would have 600 health. without a medic backing him up.

That's about 8 rockets to kill him in an average fight.

what the fuck?

And when he does have a medic backing him up, you're going to have to find some ammo boxes :S.

And other classes won't stand a chance. When i said 'yup' i meant from my medic-playing point of view. But from my every other class point of view it sounds very very bad. It'll make the strong classes far too strong, and the weak classes only slightly stronger.

I don't think they'll be able to balance it, even removing the overcharge (if they don't do that I seriously might quit, as many medics on a team as there are in BF2) but it is Valve so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Overpowering it would suck... majorly.
As is, TF2 is incredibly well balanced. No class is "unplayable."
Hopefully it stays this way.

I can see this working if the Overhealer heals at half the rate that the normal healing gun offers, and the über is removed. That would make the game decently balanced, as it would take a full two medics to keep an overpowered heavy, who would still be very vulnerable to fully charged sniper headshots, up and running.

Dare I say that it might survive two critical rockets? Funniest part will be that it'll still be vulnerable to the spy's backstab and even better that the spy no longer has to fear an ubercharge either. Only thing that worries me is the sniper being unable to kill a heavy no matter how powerful his headshot is.

Good. Heavies have no chance unless it's close quartered combat, which they usually can't get to because they're so damn slow.

I guess we will have to see what the new unlocks are. 8 rockets could be 2 rockets with some overpowerd rocket majigi which would then balance it back out. I dont want to know what the second unlock medic ray does.

Unless the other unlocks for the rest of the classes really do balance it out, then it may be unbalance for a little bit, but then it may work itself out.

baww baww baww, heavies are awesome and there's nothing wrong with them.

Shall i post some pictures of me getting just as high scores with a heavy as other classes?
