He has a point, that screen can't do the 1920x1080 resolution that 1080p HD requires, you need a bigger screen really for proper 1080, it'll do 720p though which is no worse really.

Oh and get the PS3, no reason not to.

I have three 1080p TVs (62" dlp, 42" lcd, and 37" lcd) and someone told me the other day that DirectTV broadcasts most everything in 1080i so I basically wasted a bunch of money.

Anyone know anything about that?

maybe so, but Blu-ray and HDDVD disks are in 1080p, so no, you did not waste your money
