Just pulled this off my internet news. Anyone remember this from years gone by?

Get ready for a feast of spandex and pugil-sticks - Gladiators may be returning to the screen.

According to The Sun, members of the public are being challenged to battle a new team of TV warriors as the hit combat show is relaunched on Sky.

It comes eight years after the original was axed by ITV bosses.

Footie legend Ian Wright is tipped to host the revamped new version, which will get a prime-time Saturday night slot.

Referee John Anderson - the man behind the legendary "Gladiators ready" shout - is in talks to return.

And producers are on the hunt for 12 new Gladiators to replace old favourites including Amazon, Cobra and Wolf.

An insider said: "Gladiators always got stick for being naff but the reality is people liked it. Obviously, some of the challenges they used to do were a bit tame, so it will be given a 21st Century makeover."

My only hope is they have some very attractive lasses. Remember Lightning and Jet " Rubs thighs with joy as he remembers his teenage years"

Well they stopped robot wars as the robots were getting too powerful as weely big cheese could throw any other robot about 20 feet into the air and thats just not safe, that and channel 5 nerfed it.

I used to love Jet, probably my first spaffage was to her. Can't wait to sit down with my kids and watch Gladiators. I cant even say the name without making the Tune in my head. Whenever Im on a bouncy castle now I try and pretend to be Wolf (specially if I havent had a shave) but often get kicked off cos Im scaring the kids.

Yes, the american version has been airing for about a month now. Hulk Hogan as the host and actually the ratings are quite high.

Every single thing in the show is padded. The gladiators, the challengers, the obstacles, the weapons. When I think of gladiators, I think of some guy with a cheesy name covered in an inch of padding trying to throw his compettition, who is also wearing an inch or so of padding, into a padded obstacle.
