Okay ... this night officially kicks ass.
So I get a call from my Australian buddy, Andrew. He tells me Sky Europe is currently running a BOGO free sale right now because of Valentine's Day. The two of us have been trying to plan a trip to Amsterdam for the past few months, but our schedules keep conflicting. He can't fly at all in February because he has exams with his university here in Vienna at the end of the month and needs to study. March it is.
Our last tentative travel date turned out to be the day of Jenny's village orchestra's biggest concert of the year (March 29th), which she has to play in. I didn't really want to go on my birthday, because Jenny and I have never celebrated our birthdays together in person. Can't go during Easter because we both have obligations back with our respective hosts in the countryside. The first weekend I have my first day of class on what would be our return date. I would end up returning to class 30 minutes late hungover and probably coming off being high. No go.
So the new schedule, providing things go according to plan is fly March 15th and arrive back on the 17th. And here is the best part: The PRICE! €238 (no taxes and fees at the moment, part of the sale) for two adults without the discount. Take off 50% since we get one ticket free. Then take another 50% off since we split the remainder. Add in two nights each in a cheap €25 a night hostel and that amounts to next to nothing!!!!
I love it when the unexpected blesses you with an awesome situation where everything falls into place.
And to celebrate:
