The Corvette would be fun to play with on a track but all the clips (and the top gear summary)  make me think it would just be a 'mare on the road day to day.

I'd go for the RS4 over the Corvette and M3 for a fun car to drive every day

I don't know much about the uppity uppity BMW's because they cost to much and require to much maintenance. To the person who said they preferred a highly tuned small motor. Highly tuned = expensive, overcomplicated, and fragile. I built a 500+ horse 8 second 1/8 mile car for under $5,000 US. The only reason it isn't a 7 second car is because the car is a 4500 lb 72 Torino.

Corvettes are a different breed of car than the BMW. When it comes to a yuppie cruiser the BMW is a good car, but if performance is what your after, and not as an afterthought, then the corvette is a good way to go. It's like a leer jet vs. fighter plane.

The third and last point I have is that when it comes to who is faster, leave the stock cars out of the equation. The M3 is almost peaked in performance, while the Corvette has a LOT more left under the hood. However, there are a lot more cars out there that have even more left on the table (damn emissions regulations that euro cars don't have to follow) like the Mustang, Charger, Camero, Firebird. Even the rice burners can be made into rice rockets cheaper than a kraut can. Even trucks can be made into real street fighters. I can't tell you the number of small block V8 that are in rangers and s10s.

So buy what you want and be happy.

When volcanoes stop spewing out more carbon than all the sports cars in the world could ever do in their combined lifetimes ....

Sigh

I'd like to see some studies proving that tbh...

If you want to do something about the environment then go after the airlines. A car in good running shape is a very clean vehicle compared to a jet or a large cargo ship. A car pollutes the most when it is not burning fuel cleanly. today's efi has greatly reduced the emissions. as for gas mileage a v-8 can get very good gas mileage if tuned right and driven properly. Some cars do better with a big motor because of the weight it has to move. A motor struggling is a very dirty motor. I had a mustang that got 26 mpg in the mountains. I never took it on a road trip so i don't know what it would have gotten but i am guessing 31. Oddly enough I had taken the restrictive exhaust off of it and that thing was fast as hell to. If you want to jump on something do your homework

Ha, my 13 year old Opel Vectra (Vauxhall Cavalier) goes 26 mpg.. not very impressive of a modern car tbh...

Oh 26 out of a bean can on wheels, have fun, and thats not realy good. You need a tune up. Get the manifold cleaned, it realy does help and it makes it faster to. my 11 year old ranger gets 22 and its a nice heavy extended cab truck, and i drive the hell out of it.

Frankly, since I'd drive neither car to it's limits more than a few times and (if I was that rich) would have no concern about practicality, I would choose the corvette. Big noisy burbly V8 > all. Well, except a V12 merlin, but you ain't gonna get one of THOSE in a car in a hurry. And it's stupid, because you'd be pushing three tons of steel up to something near 300MPH.
If -1 was still here I would use it on you. Practicality is much on the BMW side over a corvette.
And I would return it to your dumb ass, for not being to read.

That "bean can" (which I like) has probably cost me more than your "so-called awesometruck", so please, stfu with the personal attacks

it wasn't meant to be a personal attack it was meant to illustrate the size/ weight of your car. the manifold cleaning bit was actual advice. i had it done to my truck and it helped it a lot. it costs about $80 US and is well worth the money in extra fuel mileage. It cleans the buildup out of the intake manifold and makes it flow better as well as cleaning the sensors to make them read better. My truck is not awesome it is really kinda a junker hence why i drive the hell out of it. it leaks and panels are falling off of it, but if it is getting as much gas mileage as your (excuse me while i make this politically correct) 2755 lb (1250kg) areo-friendly car then something is wrong. my friend had a Mazda 8 and his got 33 with the front end smashed up. I am sorry if you thought that was a personal attack I was just trying to contribute to the discussion and help you save some cash.

(P.S. the numbers on weight were obtained off the Internet so if you have the correct numbers then please correct them. we all know how accurate the Internet can be.)

Numbers are correct

And I am not saying my car is "good" by todays inviromental standards

And my Vectra (Cavalier) goes 12.2 km/l from the factory so I doubt a cleaning will help, and tbh with the sallaries I have to pay a mechanic I doubt it is worth it here in DK

I prefer my suby any day but if I had a choice here's how I break it down.

Z06 if I feel flashy and going through a mid-life crisis.  Plus I always feel that people in their mid 20's driving a Z06 just doesn't look right nor 16-21 year olds that make up the majority of this site.

M3 - Just being in it just gives you a class and sophisticated appearance.  It terms of being practical, its one over the Z06 since its also a compact sedan.  You can also drive around corners and in the snow better in this car over the Z06.

RS4 - Once you go AWD it's hard to live without it, especially when living in areas where it snows a lot (like Chicago).  In the snow, RS4 wins hands down.
