I understand that but always try the safe mode before taking things apart. Oh well, I am a trouble shooter by trade and look for the easy way first.

No video = not a Windows problem.
Conclusion: Safe mode will do nothing.
Make sure the video card power cable (if there is one) is plugged in. Make sure the 4/8pin CPU power cable is plugged into the motherboard.
Did you reset CMOS? All you gotta do is power down and pop the little watch battery out for a few seconds then put it back in and power up.
Well Danyboy if its any consolation my monitor does it to me too. What usually works for me though is turning off my PC and switching off the power on the back and starting it back up. I have never got around to troubleshooting the problem because im too lazy and that seems to work temporarily.

Sorry to double post but you can also switch the CMOS jumper to "reset" and then turn the PSU back on for 15 seconds then turn it off and put it back to normal. I prefer this method because every time i try to take out the battery it flys everywhere. But then i have huge hands compared to most techys so i tend to fail at that stuff lolCrazeD wrote:

just move the piece of plastic onto the empty pin and the middle one, then back to its orignal position, if no luck with that try what Downy said to do about the RAM

quite possibly the RAM, or even faulty graphics card or with some of the stupid things i have read here... please tell me your graphics card is seated in correctly... and it fit IN ITS ORIGINAL STATE!
