That Sentry fires way too fast in its first tier, the Scout runs EXTREMELY quick, and the Demoman has dynamite nades
Christ, I'd kill for something like that as a Demoman unlock

Bloody hell this is an old one too (they both date back to 2006)

The same could be said for almost every game..

Take BF2 for example.. look how different it looked in its first trailer...

I love the way the music changes in that first one when the Soldiers start flying around.

That trailer had HL2 style explosions as well. Strange how they don't seem to fit in at all now we have TF2 explosions.

Also, it looked like the demoman's primary 'nade launcher fired remotely detonated bombs. That dynamite looks a bit on the powerful side as well. One throw around the corner and any senties nearby are toast. Maybe it will be one of the unlocks, but I doubt it without some balancing.

I wish the scout ran that fast in the real game. It would be awesome. You'd be able to run past anything and everything. Also, they might make that SMG he had an unlock. Never know.

*watches the 2nd trailer again*

Hmm. The scout has 2 different guns in the 2 different trailers, neither of which he uses in the game. The 2nd one (which i think was chronologically the first one) was just the Snipers SMG though, so i'm glad they changed it to the scattergun.

The demoman and heavy used to have a grenade like that; one the blew up and into a bunch of pieces then those pieces blew up.

Technically those films aren't even from the 'released' version of TF2...

I played since the first open-public versions of testing, and there has never been any grenades, or a sentry that fires that fast. Same goes for all of the different gun models and whatnot (except the scout).

Although, don't forget that the upcoming achievements/unlocks update could potentially bring some of these elements back into the game-- but I'd rather hope they left out grenades and left that to Team Fortress: Classic or whatever, because grenades ruin 99% of FPS games.

There were many, many differences between the trailer. The old trailers used the old build of the Source engine, protocol 7 (or 11 judging by the HDR) which is what HL2 and other games were based on. To achieve the graphics we see today, they used the newer build protocol 14 dubbed "2007". You can see in the trailers that they didn't have the rim highlights so even when the models were similar they have a different look about them and tend to blend into the background.

As for the weapons, you can all see significant changes. The scout used to have a "needlegun" which is still in the game albeit without the texture. They then went for the SMG which was then given to the sniper presumably to secure the scout as having to get up close to be effective. The medic you can see is holding a syringe, perhaps to infect people like in TFC. The spy seems to have a tranquilliser gun similar to the one in TFC again. The demoman used to have the huge TNT to throw at sentries more than likely making him overpowered against sentries and killing his defensive role. There are also slightly subtler changes such as the heavy's minigun being slightly more inaccurate or the demonan's grenades seeming remote detonated.

Well they only decided on this stylized cartoonish version of the game in late 04! And to be honest i'm glad they did, Because instead of playing this game we now know as tf2 with all the subtle visual humor(Pixar like characters killing other Pixar like characters) We'd be play some quasi-futuristic Fps like UT3 or Gears of War! And i hate Fps's like that because they have saturated the market, Since so many of them are like that now, Tf2 is a nice break form the ordinary and stale.

Btw i like fps set in modern and more believable settings.

There is no way that sentry could have lasted against all those soldiers. There were about 6 soldiers both the engineer and sentry would be dead. Even if there were 3 fully upgraded sentries, they wouldn't last against those soldiers.

It's every scout's dream to batter-up kill a pyro like that, just hard to do when they have walls of flame being blasted around them
