i have this power supply(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817192002) with this mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813128034) and the other parts are 2gb (2x1 gb) ocz ram, 250gb hdd and 300gb hdd both seagates (300 i installed yesterday so i dunno if that had any effect), and the cpu is an amd x2 5400
and some other things like audio card and 8600gt oh and vista...keep in mind ive been using this setup since august without problems
so i was using my computer and i installed the new hdd (300gb) and it was working fine i restarted a few times to make some adjustments on booting order and it was fine

next morning it wont turn on...i checked the power supply with a power supply tester (using the 24 pin connector) everything went on (all the lights and fans) i even tried the computer with a rosewill 600w power supply(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817182032) and still wont go
so im guessing the mobo fried or something?

could use some help

Does it at least POST? Are you sure no wires are loose from when you installed the new HDD?

This is my RL friend; no, according to him it doesn't POST.  System fans don't even turn on.  He'll have to answer the question about the HDD wires.

Please help as much as possible, I'm going over another friend's house in 10.

no wires are loose because there are only 2 wires for the hdd
and after putting in the new power supply i checked and rechecked everything so nope nothing loose

Get rid of that PSU immediately. 15A on the only +12V rail? what the..!

You have a great system and an absolutely awful power supply. I mean really, really bad.

And it worked with the old PSU for several months.  I did give that PS to him before I read your great guide, kyle, which was rather unfortunate, cause that guide was great.

It's a really dodgy PSU. I'd scrap it like radioactive waste.

Haha, it powered my system for around year!    That's embarrassing for me.

Any reasons why it wouldn't work with the new PS though?

If the Rosewill didn't work then there might be an issue with the 20/24 pin connector on the board itself..

that's what i was thinking because i tested both power supplies with a tester and they both run great
so what should i do? send the mobo back to newegg for a replacement?

ps:item is deactivated too...ugh

That's what he and I thought.  But what bothers me is that the case fans, although connected to the PS via 4 pin molex connector, don't work either...

Did you accidentally dislodge some of those dammed fiddly little cables on the motherboard to the power and reset buttons, I have done that on both pc's I've built and will most likely continue to do so till the day i die (i plan to die by screwing around inside a supercomputer that has A.I. untill it becomes so annoyed at me it zaps me and declares itself to be skynet.

i probably hit the 24 pin connector and messed it up but that's the only thing i can think of because that's the only thing that i know for a fact that isn't working on the mobo...anything else i have no clue if its broken lol
im just gonna send it back to the company and get a replacement
