Alright i have been messing with this stuff all morning.  Here's how it all started.  I was playing bf2, and all the sudden the screen turned red and started flashing, as if something was wrong with the Graphics card.  (I am running dual 8800 GT).  So, after talking to a couple people, they told me to re-install the nvidia drivers.  So i did that, then obviously my resolution and whatnot was reset to "default".  So i go into control panel and go to resolution and the highest option it gives me is 1024 by 768 and that looks like shit.  I was running like 1600 by 1024 or something b4(not sure).  I have a 22" Chimei.  So i need help with getting my resolution higher.  It seems like everything went wrong when i re-installed video drivers. So i did a system restore to about the previous hour and that didn't work.  Any suggestions?    I am running 64 bit vista.  And i tried going to advanced settings and list all modes for resolution and it was only low ones.  Heres a screenshot of what my resolution option is.

Hope this wasn't too confusing of a thread.  By the way, when ur loking at the screen all i click is the highest and the lowest, cant click anywhere in between.  And i have re-installed vid drivers 2 or 3 times in the past 4 hours and done everything i can think of.  Help

*EDIT* should i try finding the disk for my monitor and installing that? (would that let me change resolution more)
2nd *EDIT* now i just found something worse out.  I start up bf2 and it shuts down. It's acting as if i don't have a good enough vid card to run it. It just goes black and then shuts down. It has to have something to do with this monitor though*

BF2 doesn't support large resolutions very well.

Add the -w 'x pixels' -h 'y pixels' command line to the BF2.exe.

Completely uninstall the Nvidia drivers, reboot, and do a clean install of the latest drivers.

i did just that this morning. I have uninstalled drivers, restarted, and put the newest ones on.  What are u talking about adding the -w 'x pixels' -h 'y pixels' command line to the BF2.exe.  And my resolution is not high at the moment, that is the whole problem, I cant change my monitor resolution

This way will stretch up BF2 to your resolution and it looks ghey.

Use Widescreenfixer!

There are many games that do not support widescreen properly. These games usually let you set a widescreen resolution, but do not adjust the field of view (FOV) accordingly. This causes the top and bottom of the screen to be cropped. Because of this issue, I decided to develop a program that will adjust the field of view for the aspect ratio of your monitor.

i'm guessing you mean that your overall resolution is maxed out at 1024x768? and not just BF2?

What you could do:

Download Driver cleaner pro
Uninstall current drivers.
Reboot in safe mode.
Run Driver cleaner pro
Reboot normally
Install new drivers

Could work, has always fixed my driver issues, hope it helps!

And if you still have them,  install the drivers that you were using before everything went FUBAR (not the latest).
