Good luck with your build.  Mine took me 2 months doing multiple RMAs.  Had a bad stick of RAM.  My advice: read the book and know the  diagnostic LED POST codes and trust them.  My issue was the MB said the RAM wasn't good (CPU LED lit, RAM didn't) but the RAM worked in other boards so I RMAd the board... turns out the RAM was out of spec but most boards are tolerant enough to deal with it and mine wasn't (notoriously intolerant, actually... enthusiast board DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR). 

Other than that, invest in a UPS.  I just got an APC 1500VA one and holy crap I can't believe I lived without one for so long.

And lastly, if you ever think you want to change your chipset cooler, do it first.  I didn't and turns out I'm doing it now because the stock one dies after 2 years anyway... and now I gotta pull it all apart again then put it back together.  Bleh.  Oh well... That $20 purchase made me decide to upgrade a bunch of other shit totally unrelated cuz, you know, once it's open you might as well perform major surgery.

Check the thermal paste on the CPU. If there is not a dime sized dab in the middle than put a dime sized dab in the middle and reattach the heatsink. (because it sounds like and overheating problem)
