Hello

Some time ago I bought a wireless router D-Link D-524, but since I use it in Battlefield 2 every 2-4 minutes there appear "There is a problem with your connection" messages. It occurs even if the router is next to the computer. I don't have any problems with Internet browsing, communicators, only with BF2. Also, the game works fine, excepting these short whiles when the messages appear - I don't receive any lag and I have low ping. I didn't have any problems when I connected the router with computer with a wire. I didn't have any problems either when I had a Orange Livebox, which is also a wireless router.

I've read a lot of posts on many forums and I didn't find any solution for this problems.

Does anyone know what causes the problems and how to fix it?

That's an odd error to get.
Which OS?

Also, if it's next to the comp anyway, just use a wire...

I had the same problem.  What you need to do is set up port forwarding for BF2.  Meaning, open up the following ports when you play BF2.  For TCP open up 299-29900 and for UDP open up ports 1500 through 29900.  They are only open when you play BF2 so.

In case you're not familiar with port fowarding, this will help.

The router isn't close to the comp. I just moved it for few days so I could install it.

I've tried it and nothing has changed. I don't think there is a problem with ports, because as I said, I've been playing with this router on the same configuration but wired and the problem didn't occur.

I guess that I should change something in the wireless config (Beacon Interval, RTS Threshold, Fragmentation, DTIM Interval, Wireless Mode, TX Rates, SSID broadcast) but neither my English is so good to understand what do they do nor my knowledge about wireless networks is enough to understand it even if it was in Polish.

I had a similar problem with my router back in the days and it was definitaly the wireless factor.
Connect it with a cable again and you´re fine. As far as I know, there is nothing you can do about it.

QFE. Port forwarding didn't work for me either. I spent an hour on the phone to Netgear (my wireless router maunfacturer) who said it was NTL's problem. Then 2 Hours on the phone to NTL who told me to call Netgear and then hung up on me. I am now going with BT/Sky and will not be using wireless shit again. I solved the problem I had by using cables, although wireless still works if you just wanted to browse etc.
