Curious. Israel did not go in and seal the breech of the border, fence them in.  Egyptians did.

It seems like when Arab or Muslim countries face the Palestinian  problem they do it the same way as Israel; with razor wire and machine guns.

Funny that.

Why should Israel seal the border? If they intervene on the egypt side, it's an invasion. On the gaza side, they're going back on their word.

Hell, even leaving it alone they catch flak. This is all the fault of the palestinians and the arabs.

dont you realize, palestinians are free from any kind of responsibility.  its much easier to blame israel for everything.

Fear not, Cam will kick the double standard machine into high gear and crank us out a good reason for this.

In the original thread I predicted Eygpt would close the opening relatively quickly - 11 days.

They had no choice.

I thought you'd be all for this? Stopping illegal immigration and forcing the country(ies) to sort out this problem itself. They helped out the Palestinians for a bit, but obviously that couldn't continue forever.

They gave the people plenty of time to visit relatives, stock up on food and guns etc before closing it......under pressure from other countries.

Doesn't sound very Israeli to me. They would have just dropped a 1000lb bomb on the train of people making their way across the border.

There isn't a country on earth who doesn't protect their borders.........maybe except the US Mexican border..........

As was said above, they are just stopping illegal immigrants. Thought you would be all for it.

Ah, OK...
why didn't they drop a thousand pounder while they were on the way to the border if they do it just for lulz?

Palestine isn't part of Egypt you know. Borders are there for a reason. Just like Gaza has a border with Israel across which both parties agree who can and can't cross so do Gaza and Egypt. Have I ever told you that I'm a strong believer in border security? Palestinians have to sort out their little Hamas problem before they can expect freedom of access and egress to other nations. This doesn't preclude Egypt from providing humanitarian assistance to those inside Gaza, incidentally.

There also concerned about a possible spread of influence in there terriority by Hamas. Egypts a pretty moderate nation by the regions standards.

Yeah, I've been around Sinai and Cairo. Even the old city/Islamic bit of Cairo where there's Mosques and shit everywhere (just like East London olol), it wasn't that bad. Alot of traffic, and it was hot, but it aint a bad country - It's a shame that they adoped Arab Islamic culture instead of keeping the Ancient Egyptian one. If I was to say something about the place.

So I understand this part of the world better....

Egypt was at war against Israel.

Israel fights with the Pals.

Egypt hates Israel but does not really care for the Pals.

Yes?

Love it in Sinai, especially Sharm El Sheik, it's like every other place is a club or a Shisha/Hookah bar

I was also in one bit where you could see Israel/Jordan/Egypt/Saudi Arabia all at the same time (whilst on the bus to Sharm). That was cool

you would find most of the arab world could give a fuck about palestinians.   In 1979, Egypt was the first arab nation to acknowledge Israels right to exist and they squashed their beef since.   They even gave up their claims to gaza.

Im not being anti-American when I say that it was the sheer amount of aid the US gives to Egypt that brought that nation into line. I believe it still receives a lot of aid. That was a large factor in leading to them acknowledge  Israel in '79 as was said earlier.

http://www.usaid.gov/our_work/features/egypt/

I imagine there sypathic towards the people of Gaza but want to avoid any problems in the future with Hamas.
