Since 1.2 came out and I updated to the ATI 6.2 drivers any close arti strikes or heli TV missles are causing my ATI 9600 to crap out.  Direct3D goes in the toilet and I have to reboot.  I don't even have to have the strike in my field of vision, as long as its close by.

At first it gave me a VPU recover message so I tried turning it off, but all that did was succeed in freezing the entire system instead when it happened.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled BF2, the ATI Drivers (as well as reverting to 6.1), DirectX, and the sound card drivers and the problem persists.

The game worked great before, so I don't understand why it would freak out now.  I really don't want to go back to 1.12 and 6.1, any ideas would be appreciated.

I have:
2.8 Ghz Pent 4
1.5 Gigs RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB RAM
