I'm just wondering, what is the newest (or best) graphics card out at the moment form the NVidia series. I'm finding it confusing with all the series like GT and GTS.

"Best" is 8800 Ultra.

Realistically, 8800GTX (the Ultra is small performance increase for lots more money)

But in terms of bang for buck, 8800GT /GTS.

Price/Performance = 8800GT
Overall performance = 8800Ultra

Personally, I'd get a 8800GTS because it is ~ just as good as a GTX

NOTE: G92 GTS!! not the old G80 GTS!!

If you get a GT or GTS, make sure you get one based on the G92 core.  These are easily identifiable because they will be in 256MB or 512MB configurations, where the older ones are 320MB or 640MB.

k nvidia card go up in numbers and letters lol.......

the higher the number ..in terms of nvidia the higher the number the better the card....

8800 = the best atm....

8600 = probably the worst of the range ...but still enough to run most games on high

the nvidia cards come with the following suffixes...

gs (bottom or range in terms of variant)

gt

gts

gtx

ultra (top of range atm)

all of these types of 8800 card come wit either 256mb...512mb or occasionally 1gb ddr3 ram

look for a card wit good clock speeds....and from a well known brand and u should be fine

i have a well clocked 8800gt 512mb from nvidia ...and it runs like a dream ...all depends what u wnt the card for ...

Nope,,

Chart
You will notice how close the GT (G92) OC is compared to the GTX, and the GTS (G92) is even faster than the GT OC...

And when they are that close in performance, it is work of idiocy that makes you buy the GTX or Ultra when you can get the same level of performance @ ~ half the price..

So are you saying the GTX and GTS are practically the same but the Ultra is a bit better but way overpriced?

thank the new 9800 series for this great price drop...

excellent choice. Are you getting one with a big cooler so you can overclock it to GTS speeds?

Yeah but if you buy a bigger cooler for the GT it will be just as big as a GTS
