They have surveillance technology that can use your face/eyes to identify you, so if you did have your eyes scanned and you were in a place that had that surveillance technology, they could easily identify and follow you.

Cuz I do not break the law, therefore giving them no reason to follow me.  I want them following people who cannot behave themselves.  Makes my life better.  Makes the lives of people who obey the rules a shit ton better.

That's fine and dandy, I don't break the law as well but it's just a whole privacy issue. It's sort of the reason they can't put cameras in bathrooms, because what you do in there is none of their business.

And I'm going to steal part of your sig... Ok?

Exactly. You don't break the law.  But what happens when a device of the government that is used to invade your privacy gets all up in your grill and falsely ID's you, and you are locked away?  Then after attorney fees, lost job, media villainization, and other negative effects, you are finally released.  Will you still feel the same way?

or what if you were wrongfully accused of committing a crime and the only thing that saves you is modern technology put in place that didnt exist 5 years before.  Works both sides.

I remember when i was in third grade, law enforcement came to school and fingerprinted all the kids, and they said it was "in case we ever got lost and they needed to find us" now that i look back, do you think they still have those records? would my fingerprint still be the same?

no and yes.  no body keeps these records for too long.  only way it would be in a database would be if you were a federal employee, in law enforcement or have been arrested.

Why should people be worried if they've done nothing wrong.

The only technological break-though in recent years that would fit that bill would be DNA recognition. Other then that I don't see how retina scans would do any good unless your eyes were scanned while you broke the law. And the easiest way for that to happen is by a security camera. But if you have such a high DPI camera that can scan retinas from a distance, why go though all the trouble and money of making an eye database when you could just use facial features as evidence.

So you just blindly go about your day assuming all will be well if you obey the law?  A little sheepish of you, isn't it?

Where did I say that?  You think I made it thru two wars and three tours with that mindset?  Come on dude.  As had as it may be, try and give me some credit.

but he has a point. and now ur wasting our time asking for the benefit of the doubt rather than proceeding with the "debate." and yes, i bet you made it through those wars by blindly following the directions of your officers like a sheep. thats probably why u are so willing to hand your privacy and safety entirely over to your government, as if now that u are a civilian, u still have "superiors" and they still know whats best for you. time to grow up boys.

so if we are a nation that is governed by the people, why does the government have the right to spy on us but we do not have the right to spy on them? we should probably have them on the firing line for espionage but instead we just have masses of confused victims optimistically rationalizing the dismissal of their rights.
