Talking about how they don't look as good as the race-modified NASCAR racecars. Then again, no stock car looks as good as its race-counterpart.
California Speedway FTW!!! I love getting the handicapped chairs right at the fence on turn 4. Great action and all the little tiny rubber chunks flying in your face make it well worth it.ig wrote:

Go Hendrick Motorsports!
You should try Bristol Motor Speedway sometime...you want rubber? hehehehe The stuff sticks to you when you leave, you smell of it...you are litterally 10 feet or less away from a stock car doing 120mph heherawls2 wrote:

I go to 2 each year, its no wonder its the most popular track on the circuit. And I live 20 minutes away
Tony Stewart! Let's take the cup!
Even with JGR's change to Toyota, dont rule Tony out, he knows how to win championships, Toyota will throw HUGE amounts of money at JGR...I expect him and the rest of the team to make the chase, at least.Bull3t wrote:

the wife like Tony, when he does well, I get a bonus *hint hint*
So its in my best interests to see Tony do well hehe
Drivers from other series are coming to NASCAR and losing. Why? No more electronics keeping them on the track. Yes, you actually have to shift the car at proper revs without a computer doing it for you. Sorry, no traction control. And no this car doesn't have a computer that lets you mash the gas and it keeps your wheels from spinning. If you do that in NASCAR, you'll grenade your engine and spin out. Oh and this car has less downforce and it's heavier so it will get bounced around by the air coming off the other cars ... hang on and try not to spin out Franchitti.
so many people fail to realize that. if only they got rid of the fucking restrictor plates... (only 4 races but still)Stingray24 wrote:

Lets not forget the simple physics...Stingray24 wrote:

These are 3400lb cars. The tires are 10 inches wide...you have an adjustment out by a few millimeters and you lose contact patch. This is key hehe. The side loads are tremendous, particularly at places like Bristol, Dover, and the plate tracks (not so much, but still...).
And yet, to go fast, you want to the "loose" i.e. losing grip in the rear-end first...lets see how fast we can go without spinning out and french kissing turn (1-4...it makes no difference).
Folks like Juan Pablo, Franchitti, Villnueve (another F1 great) are having one hell of an adjustment period.
Just look at Juan Pablo's headlong dive into turn 1 at Charlotte last year during the Open...he drove that thing in there 4 car lengths deeper than anybody else hehe, he paid for it too
You wont see him make mistakes like that this year I think. But watch Franchitti hehe he should be fun, and Villnueve...I expect him to be there, but not be seen really, he is done as a competitive racer imo.
cant bloody wait...
I've taken the 14th off btw, so I can watch the Duels hehe
its been a bit over 90 days...I'm going thru D.T.'s
They'd exceed Indy car speeds if they did that ... which would be great.ig wrote:

it's ok. i'm happy with my hometown track being the fastest oneStingray24 wrote:

I hope Tony Stewart does well in his Toyota this year even though I doubt it. As long as Gordon/Johnson don't win, I'll be happy.

12 days, 6 hours and 37 minutes....
I cant wait...43 cars at 190mph, 3 or less inches apart...
greatest sporting event in the US imo.

I think NASCAR would be a lot cooler if they were racing through a supersized and race worthy engine like they were doing in that Super Bowl commerical.
Here it is:

RACE FACTSStingray24 wrote:
Those of you who don't give NASCAR drivers any credit can just stay out of this thread. Spam somewhere else. When you can do 180mph+ and even keep it on the track without stuffing the wall get back to me ...
Average Speed: 149.335 mph
Sure it may be fast, but then again its a freaking banked oval so you never need to break for corners...
EDIT: F1 cars can still average 145 mph on tracks with corners.
How many NASCAR drivers have won in WRC, F1, touring cars or even champ cars? I'll take a random guess at none.Stingray24 wrote:

Food; All of them.ig wrote:
what other sporting event lets you bring in your own beer/food?
Non-alcoholic drinks; All of them
Alcohol; Some, not many anymore. About 8-10 years ago it would have been "All of them".
NASCAR is the most boring motor sport in existence, I would rather watch go-karts.

geezus...
Your average speed BS, is just that, BS...anybody that knows anything about NASCAR knows that average speed is taken thru the whole race. Meaning, the reduced speeds during caution laps are factored in.
If you would bother to educate yourself about that which you post, you wouldnt be puking forth such useless dribble.
go away...

Oh man, I can't wait for it! Last year's was stunning:
Ok...cant help it, gonna rant for a minute or so...
The topic of: "its a banked oval..." and braking. Look, you gotta brake at each and every oval save maybe Talledega. Even at Daytona, if you have an ill handling race car, you are gonna be on the brakes. At places like Dover (32-34deg banking), or Bristol (36deg banking)...Las Vegas (24 deg)...at some of these places, you are on the brakes so hard, and so often the rotors are glowing like hell, and the fluid is on the verge of boiling. Not braking in an oval my ass...
How many Cup drivers have done well in other series? heheheh
Look at Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Robbie Gordon, Dave Blaney...the list goes on. They have come to NASCAR for 2 reasons. 1. Its by far the most competitive motorsport in the United States. 2. Money, yes cash...that and fame...and who can blame them, if you have the skill and the desire, rock on I say.
As far as F1 goes...its an entire breed of its own, top to bottom, front to back. I do not doubt for one second that a Cup driver could go to F! and fall on his face...no question. But not for long... And I say that about Juan Pablo too, just in reverse. He has come to Cup, learned, and I expect great things from him this year. A talented driver, is a talented driver. I dont care what discipline he comes from.
Now about F1 cars doing 145mph (average...lol) on a track with even *looks around stealthily* CURVES ...
An F1 car only has to manage about 1500lbs wet weight. And from top to bottom, those cars use the air to hold them down. The tires...1 to 2 inches wider on an F1 car than on a Sprint Cup car (yes even though F1 are forced to run on grooved tires, they still have a larger contact patch...more grip) and they are made of a far softer compound than Cup tires.
Again, I dont take anything away from F1, WRC...any of those guys. On the contrary, I have the Utmost respect for them and their skill. But when one educates oneself about NASCAR, it swiftly becomes more than "lets go wide open and turn left all day"
/rant
thank you, and have a nice day
