I tried looking at the websites but they only show what they want you to hear. I wanna know what really goes on.

I don't think I would join any since I would not want to have to be away from my wife and move away from my family. But It's something I would like to know more about and see what my options are.

I sent a email and they just want me to call them and that's all they responded with. I'm not interested in hearing someone trying to talk me into something I'm not sure about.
They still keep calling my house looking for my ex girlfriend from 2 years ago, and she never called them, some how she got on a list and now they wont leave my number alone no matter how many times I tell them to stop calling..

But Since I don't know anything about it really, I would like to know what I'm saying no to

There is a difference between the guard and the reserves. I know nothing about the guards. Sorry.

What do you know about the Reserves that is differant from Army or Marines ?

I believe the bootcamp is the same, regardless if you're active duty, reserve, or guard. The difference lies in how you serve out your enlistment. Reserve and Guard (traditional) are one weekend a month, two weeks during the year. Sometimes you can lump your time together, depending on whether you're an IMA or with a specific unit. The biggest difference between Guard and Reserve is that Guard works for the State, Reserve works for the Army.

In Norway we first serve in the regular Army conscription be it airforce, land or sea - then many of us gets transferred to the guard or reserve where we serve until we are 44.
