pre patch, no issues, post patch, BF2 is now broken.

dumps me back to my desktop after the map loads. before the patch i never had any issues.

Running into the same thing.   Tried totally reinstalling (four times).

Would install:

BF2
1.02 patch
1.03 patch
BF2:SF
1.12 patch
1.20 patch

Also tried the above without BF2:SF and get the same results.  I am a bit stuck...and rather pissed.   Will continue working on it tonight after the kids go down.

i think i know what your problem is.

despite the fact i have yet to even download the patch, let alone install it...

anyway, when you get into BF2, go to the 'community' tab.  activate BF2 v1.2.  in the top right corner, itll still show 1.1.2.#### or something...but that should work.

try it, if it doesnt work, then come back here.

My brother has the same troubles as well. The map loads and after playing a few minutes, he dropped out to the desktop. He also can't load any serverlist in multiplay. Before the patch nothing!!!!

On my BF2 the patch works fine, loading serverlist, play games, etc. But when i want to seek a special map in the serverlist, like Dragon Valley or Ghost Town, the serverlist comes empty????

I can't select by name!!!
