enjoyed all of your attempts at "lawyer talk." stat padding IS exploitation of the game in that it is gathering points in a manner that the game wasn't designed for- which you clearly defined by "taking unfair advantage." although that is clearly limited to players not contributing to their team (the knifing with an enemy medic method, the ammo, healing, and repairing methods and utilizing glitches and bugs) since all else is the way the game was meant to be played (yes, whoring and base raping is fair game. because someone has specialized in a tactic or kit doesn't make them a stat padder. concerning base raping, either you're the dumbass that keeps spawning at your uncappable base being harrassed, or your team is sorry enough to let that become your team's only base)TehSeraphim wrote:

More points for the commander position is sort of an unfair advantage, but you would need to pad a LOT of points in order for it to be decisive. Padding doesn't do anything unless you make it bother you. If you obsess about someone padding it's gonna piss you right off and ruin your game - but honestly, what's the big deal. Just play the game how you want to and don't worry about what other people are doing. If you were in class and someone was cheating on a test - would you really give so much of a rats ass? I went to High School where kids cheated on their tests, dumbed themselves down to be in the lower level classes and beat me out of the top 10% of my class because they should've been in the AP classes I was in. I don't let it get to me, because it didn't bar me from getting into college and I know that my skills and work improved me as a person and I know that they'll be fucked when they get to college as it is much harder to cheat there.
It applies in BF2 - you're getting your experience, which is making you better, so who cares about other people.
like you mentioned about your college example though, eventually those "cheating" kids will be exposed by either not being able to progress in academics or being caught doing what they normally do, which by your first post- "there's nothing wrong with stat padding" or cheating in this case.

EA's definition of Stat Padding is very loose - just like America's intrepertation of the Constitution.
Some forms are very obivous like Knifing and Revivng, Destroying Commander Objects and Repairing or Supplying Points to Anti-Tank cries out for Stat Wiping.
However there are some instances where people claim it is stat padding, but really isn't. If you join a 16 player server and everyone uses Knives, Pistols, and Shock Paddles, it's NOT STAT PADDING. There is no communication between teams and everyone is just fighting the battle on a smaller scale. I remember connecting to this one server which was FuShe Pass, 16 player, and everyone uses those said weapons is not exploiting the BF2 gaming/ranking system. (I later was kicked because I kept using my MK3A1. He he.)
The fact that EA has wiped the stats of some players that do play on these smaller high point servers is absurd. The players are entitled to play the game how they want as long as it falls within the realm of the End-User Liscense Agreement and Terms of Service for the product. Just my opinion that EA is breaking their own rules that they set.
On a lighter note, I would love to be the guy working at EA responsible for Erasing someone's stats.

All stats padding does is render any medals , achievments , rank and global points insignificant . There are probably 15,000 people who have everything maxed out and I don't care nor respect anyone who stats pad to ge to this level . I don't mind it but anyone who does this only exploits their noobness and failure to gain anything in this game legaly . Stats mean absolutely nothing now . It's really strange to me that people would actualy waste good gaming time on sitting there doing this or that on the side of the map ( stats padding ) while they could be shooting at enemy troops and actualy playing the game .
If stat-padding is ok, then why did have people's stats been reset by EA? Why did they want the knives only servers shut down? I just think it's funny to watch people try to justify actions. I also love it when guys pull out the TOS. You guys are a crack-up. Though I do agree, what's the point of earning all these points not like someone is gonna say wow we are going to hire you for the job because of your win/loss ratio.
Lookup the term fairness. It's a game to enjoy. Luckily I don't mind being beaten by morons who stat pad, if I ever got near the top I'd be happy in the knowledge knowing I'm #1 within the realm of real, honest gamers.
So gaining points and such gaining rank and unlocks which would provide you with WEAPONS superior to those players who are working thier way up thru fair play is not considered to be doing anything that interferes with the ability of other Service users to enjoy playing an EA game no to metion thru this stat padding one gains rank unfairly and then thru this ends up being able to out rank other players who work thier rank for the command position.................Nope! sounds to me like stat padding is cheating and unfair. Pad your stats and i hope your account gets reset and your name posted for all to see and make fun of.....no to mention Hunt down like the mut you are!
