The overall cost to society is also a factor, like making people wear seatbelts when driving.In a free country, anyone should be able to anything they want, as long as it doesnt infringe on someone elses freedom. And dont say your free to make a law prohibitting weed, because that infringes on others choices. As many of todays laws do.
Nobody gives a crap if you want to fly through your windshield or are too dumb to realise a seatbelt is a good thing.
The cost to society of scraping you off the road looking after you as a parapalegic is too high to bear.
Same with drugs, drug use screws up society, someone has to work to pay for the toker on the dole, mental health care, the lung problems etc.
Same with alcohol and cigarettes - which if undiscovered until now and invented today would not be legalised.
I believe there is enough evidence its harmful to physical and mental health, plus it turns people into dreary motiveless losers - on average - there may be occasional exceptions.

As for marijuana, I won't use it, but make it available and with all those bullshit taxes that alcohol and tobacco have. At least the government could make some money off of it. No it wasn't the drug itself, it was the characters dealing the drugs that got him onto harder stuff ... so basically if he had not smoked weed he would not have assosiated himself with those characters thus again not started doing acid and heroin.Ollie wrote:

You see everythings isn't just black or white in this world and you can't judge the majority on one or two cases, i've worked with this and have first hand knowledge about thousands of cases and they all started with weed or sniffing glue.
About the selfcontrol issue, every addict thinks he have his usage under control ... after some times hard abuse you slowly loose that control and the current drug you are using looses effect and you move on to stronger and stronger drugs <----- known undisputable fact.
Same with alcoholics tbh ...
So as mentioned by me and others a regulated legalized market aka the pharmacy would end many of the problems concerning weed being the gateway to hell for most hardcore users.

I highly doubt those "characters" forced him to take acid and heroin, he fell to peer pressure and thats his fault not marijuana.
