Now, let us observe some transparent fish that occur in nature.
Glass fish--Parambassis ranga

Why is this a stupid experiment? Seems they made the Zebra fish clear because it is a close match to humans genetically. Some of the other fish that you have shown might not have been a good match, even though they wee already transparent. It also does not say where he money for the experiment came from so it might not have been a government grant that funded the research. Melanoma is a pretty serious problem too, my uncle opted for suicide when he was terminal from it.
