I would go for a good core duo instead of a quad. Right now that is still money thrown out of the window.
Other than that, looks nice.

Edit : And take the money you have left then and buy another gig of RAM since your getting the microsoft RAM eating monster.

looks great. Remember that the 680i/780i aren't great overclockers with quads
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

i don't think i will be overclocking for a while. Like i said this is my fist build and i am still learning. I will be happy just as long as i get it up and running.

What processor do you recommend?

E8400 is the new 45nm Core2Duo processor. Highly recommended.

Looks good. You can buy a Q9450 when it comes out. SLI isnt really worth the money unless your rich, unless you know for a fact you are going to get SLI then get a GIGABYTE X38 DQ6 for better overclocking and overall stability.

The X38 is a waste of money. A P35 is a lot more bang for the buck.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

... Why the hell didn't any of you tell me not to get a quad core? And why the hell did you all decide I didn't need any help about a week ago?

You were being nice. Were.

Do you think cursing us will inspire us to help you? We're not getting paid to do this, in fact, we're taking from our free time to help people out. Take what you get, or start paying us, if you wanna use that tone.

I was being nice, and it got me ignored. So after a week and still it getting me nowhere, I got annoyed. I'm now less annoyed, and realising that I just took the thread away from someone else who probably still needs help.

There are games out right now that utilize quad core. So unless you plan on doing another build in the next year, it's a good purchase.
