Or cutting the graphic card pins off to put it in a normal PCI slot.
Or removing the northbridge heatsink because you didnt like it.
I read that post. Not to knock that kid but i don't think i am that stupid. Although i did have a question. I purchased everything last night and was able to get the E8400 Wolfedale from Newegg. Does that come with the thermal grease already pre applied or do i have to apply it? I will be installing a Zalman heatsink and fan not the stock fan the CPU comes with.
either way its really pretty simple. grab an old credit card or id card or something, apply thermal paste to the center of the core and spread outwards with the card.mikeyc159 wrote:

Should i apply it it again anyway even if it already come applied from the factory? I ordered the Artic Silver 5 Thermal compound just in case i needed it.
AFAIK you should remove the stock thermal paste (with something like Arctic Cleaner or similar) and then apply the new Thermal Compound and add the new heatsink and fan.mikeyc159 wrote:

Good heatsink, easy to install.

Great Heatsink, you want 2 people to install this unless youre good at it.
The stock heatsink is crap. Get the cleaner, AS5, and one of the 2 heatsinks.

Well i already placed my order and i ordered the Zalman fan and heatsink. I was just curious if any local stores would sell the cleaner.
Looking at your links i may have purchased the wrong Fan and heatsink, this is the one i got http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a … 6835118223 and this is the thermal grease i got http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a … 6835100007
The heatsink is fine, itll still cool very well. And the AS5 thermal grease is fine too. I dont think they would sell the cleaner in stores.
