No, they will call them G9E or something,, at least as far as I know...
The chip is called g92 the graphics card itself however will probably be called 9600gt/s, 9800gt/s, etc...
I am referring to the chip
The card's codename is D9E and the chip is G9x.

edit: D9E = DESKTOP 9 EXTREME (high-end)
        D9P = DESKTOP 9 PERFORMANCE (mid-end)
        D9M = DESKTOP 9 ??????????????? (low-end)

They changed plans I think.. But to me it seems nVidia is trying some half-assed way of obtaining the mid-end market with prices and performance not varying so much anyway.. this is a good upgrade from an older card though, because it has advantage over the current mid end (8800GS etc.) since it's less power consuming and heat producing..

did anyone think, it's really kind of idiotic to release gaming hardware on valentine's day?  That will end up getting a lot of guys in trouble back at the ranch   lol

They will be out on the last week of feb or mid mar if still going on schedual. I red that the 9600gt is coming out the 21st due to a voltage issue.

Seems like a solid mid-range graphics, now if they only sold it for a reasonable price it might even become a great product too. I've loved my 7600GT, still kinda do for the time that I've had it, I am sure that the 9600GT can continue this

The 8600GT had the same clock speeds as my 7600GT but with a newe chipset and DX10 support. (Not that any 8600 could actually handle Dx10 ) But also the 8600GT was a good mid-range graphics card.
