well, strangely enough, I don't see any erosion of democratic values or freedoms in secular western societies because of islam. Of course, they are lobbying for their interests, but so do catholics, jews, buddhists, scientologists, etc.lowing wrote:
I have no problem with freedom of religion. I do have a problem with that religion removing all other freedoms from the people or teaching pretty much are you have the freedom to be Muslim.or else. This religion has no part in western society. It goes against everything we hold as moral and free.
It is like you telling me I have a problem with free speech if I think we should not allow the yelling of FIRE in a dark theater. Gimme a break
We have very secular laws in europe, as you do in the US ( seperation of church and state, for example ) and unless we allow them to remove our freedoms through the necessary democratic processes ( elections, referendums, etc. ), it won't happen.
And I am pretty sure we won't. Muslims are generally very badly represented politically. In germany, for example, there isn't even a muslim party, and the possible voting power of the muslim community is so laughably small that they'd never get anything done politically.
You say this religion has no place in western society. Well, your own Bill of Roghts would indicate the opposite, to be honest. Any religion has its place among secular western societies, as long as its followers are still subject to the secular law.
