Most bathrooms here are shower/bath.  You can find a hand-crank auger for like $20, or you can probably rent one from Home Depot.

Does your bathtub have an overflow hole or something like it?  You may try covering that and plunging if you haven't already.
just covering will work?  there was an old rickety metal flip switch that I kept playing with until it broke.  cover it with a sock or something?
that wasn't the switch to open/close the drain was it?
might have been.  I broke it with my fingers. Im buff.

@GunSlinger OIF II, just to add, my house is 34 years old. Drain was not copper back then (feed is copper), usually cast iron if it was metal.

I think the idea is to stop the airflow.  Like duct tape or something.
got that too.

yo, that switch didnt work anyways, water would drain at the same speed when it was up or down.  old tub.

gonna try the hanger.  brb.

My house was built in the 30's, but Im sure the plumbing isnt that old.  I recall improvements being made to the whole bathroom years ago before I moved here.

sorry man I don't think any I got in here is what you got at home, though the sulphuric acid thing could work as long as you thin it with water, keep the concentration reasonable so it'll still bite through whatever is stuck down there or throw it in with lots of water after it.

Gunslinger the acid you want to use is muriatic acid not sulfuric.  Muriatic acid will clean your pipes out and not damage them.  You should be able to buy some at your local hardware.

upon further inspection, I find that the pipes are indeed PVC and that that everyones advice was helpful.   Im gonna try removing the pipes from the access area behind the tub on the side of the house.

Dilute it quite a bit then work backwards?

I'm guessing the pipes would be copper, I don't think you'll have any problems as long as you don't let it sit there for hours on end.

Acid won't burn through something instantly, it takes time.
4 H+ (aq) + SO42- (aq) + Cu (s) -> Cu2+ (aq) + SO2 (g) + 2 H2O (l)

Sulfuric acid fully dissociates into it's ions in liquid form and is a strong enough oxidizing agent to dissolve the solid copper into aqueous copper ions and leave sulfur dioxide (smells like rotten eggs) and water.  So no, don't put concentrated sulfuric down your drains... call roto rooter plumbing...

Couldn't you like, light a match and drop it through? it'll burn up whatever's clogging the drain.

Yeah, just dribble a gallon or two of gas down there and you'll be good to go.

came back from home depot.  bought new pipes and PVC glue, that shit is strong.  As I tried fixing it I came back with another hurdle. The piece of PVC that I broke off of the metal pipe is threaded, the piece I bought isnt.   So I said fuck that, start again tomorrow and I glued the piece I broke with the PVC cement I just bought for a quick bubble gum solution.
