Hellow I have been keenly watching developments in computers for a while and have descided to buy a machine.  A very good friend of mine who is also a member of the site speced me what (in his opinion) is an extremely good machine yet isnt ludacrisly over priced (ala $4000 or something crazy like that).

Since it is him whos most likely going to be building it for me he asked me to make sure when am buying the machine to make sure its 'fully modular'.  His explination was it would make it much easier to build the thing and am not going to dis believe him.  Although he did say some psu's are kind of half n half so its not completly a disaster if it isnt but fully modular would be a big bonous.  So I am looking for a quality high efficieny power supply reasonably quiet and from a recognised brand.  Size isnt so much an issue its going into either a silverstone TJ07 or the 09 (possibly a cosmos 1000).  He gave me a figure of around 750W is the max he would expect the machine ever to draw, so when I add his redundancy 'just in case' point, my recogning is I need an 850W psu.

Much appreciated gentleman xD

Appart from the last one, it doesnt really mention modular, and I think even then it just happens to conisidentally be a modular one he chose in that review.

However, A, that one in orangehouds link (1kw) would be great, bar that, I think am right in saying coolermasters 850-1000W PSU is modular.  Check that out petey boy!

The Thermaltake toughpowers are modular. They are pretty actually
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Prices are old - need to update them

I'd also be recommending a Thermaltake Toughpower modular! There is an 850W version I believe.

Cooler-Master Is Ok, Thermaltake is good too, I got a Cooler-Master 800 Watt PSU, Not Modular as it is a year and so Old, but Cooler-Master does have other models. Reasonably Priced and BIG Fans. My System is Liquid Cooled and has 3 Big fans.  1 in case at front for H/D cooling, one at back screwed to Radiator and the PSU had one in it. I have 4 H/D's  (3 raid-1 B/up). Plus Vidcard and other Stuff, (USB etc)
I can honestly say that i have bought a few Cheaper PSU's and have Fried a few too, this Cooler-Master is the best one so far, I even noticed that my machine runs more stable. Some models have built in Fan control for less noise. Don't judge the PSU by how pretty the Box is, look at the Specs they never Lie.

I have it. It runs my crossfire setup fine. Good stable power. No problems with it on my part.
