I believe the Republicans put out a shrub like McCain because they know they are going to get their asses handed to them this time.

If these primaries are an indication of anything, it doesn't really matter who wins the Republican nomination. The Democrats have been getting record voter turnouts all over the nation. The same can't be said for the Republicans.

That's because the Republican nomination is mathematically over ... in many of these states (not all, but many), Republicans are switching sides to go vote in the Democratic primaries and caucuses (yes, they can do this).

Mostly to prevent Hillary from getting the nomination...which is counter-productive, IMO. McCain stands a much better chance against Hillary than against Obama in the general election.

It depends on the state (Open Primary, Closed Primaries). Primaries and caucuses are two very different ways of determining delegates.

not in california. It was a semi-closed primary. Democrats allowed independents and decline-to-staters like me to vote in their primary, republicans didnt. Im think maybe thats why the demos are seeing record numbers in voter turnout. 1 out of every 10 California registered voters declines to state
