I have some of last seasons soccer keeping gloves but they seem to have lost their grip.

Anyone got any tips on how to get the grip back?

Honey? Glue?

thanks

How long have you had them for? How do you clean them and what gloves are they?

If you have gloves that are less than $90 then they will lose their grip no matter what. You have to get a good pair, only way to guarantee a decent grip. Either Uhlsport AbsolutGrip or Adidas. Nike are good as well.

I'd do that, yes.

Oh god. Not them.

BN, advice, never EVER buy any other but normal latex gloves. All other types of grip are bullshit.

I had the Titanium ones a while ago and they lost their grip very very quickly.

Either get Adidas E6S or E7S, Uhlsport Chimera, Nike Grip3, Puma V-Konstruct

They are your best bet. Depends if you want fingersave or not.

Yeah, the material they are made out of only really retains its grip as long as they are in good condition.

Yeah do like I do with boots, have one pair fir training and 1 or 2 for matches

Thanks for all your advice guys.

I am looking at the Chimera Absolutegrip. Does that have anything like the fingersave?

If you seriously want Fingersave, then get the new Adidas Fingersave or the new Puma V-Konstructs

The Uhlsport have a flimsy SupportFrame, which can damage your fingers ( well, I had the Uhlsport AGE SupportFrame Lite and I removed the frame because it was so bad ).

V-Konstructs are incredibly good gloves. So if you only want fingersave, then give them a shot.

I have been a goalkeeper. Yes the gloves loose grip when they get dirty so you need to pour some water on them.

Mm, not with a titanium based latex. Those just lose grip and don't get it back. Also, just water will not do the trick. Most latex gets contaminated with the bacteria from the ground and loses its grip very fast ( if its very good latex ) so you either need a decent soap or a good glove cleaner ( uhlsport and sells sell them ) and water at around 40C to clean them properly. Dunk in water + cleaner, wipe, repeat, rinse, dunk, squeeze and leave out to dry naturally. If you add any heat whatsoever then you have just ruined the gloves.

You want at least 4mm of latex. Preferably white and super soft. A breathable back hand. Supported wrist ( lots of gloves have flimsy and bad wrist bands, can cause injuries ). Don't get negative cut or bowl cut unless you like them super tight. Look for Rollfinger or FlatPalm. Make sure you get the perfect size, never get something slightly bigger, it makes the world of a difference.
You want a good thumb support and connection to the latex, lots of gloves will break there, so if you get a good glove, like the Nike T90 GunnCut, then ripping at the thumb will never happen ( Adidas Response Pro, v-Konstruct etc ).
You want an embossed back hand ( good for punching and feeling )
All weather conditions palm ( preferably not one that you have to activate beforehand - some gloves require a soaking in water 2-3 hours prior of the match so a special activated chemical starts to work, just avoid them. )

I haven't goalkeeped for 5 years now so i'm not familiar with the latest "glove technology" but it did the trick for me. I always had water with me near the goal and pored my gloves with it every 15 minutes.

Ah, that's a different concept. Spit or water during a game will always reassure a better than average grip, but he means after the match, when the latex is covered in mud. Cleaning is a bit more complicated.

No, of course you still have to spit on them while in a game. If you don't then they will dry out and balls will sip through.

Ah my bad, i misread him. I never used any special cleaning chemicals, only water but i would say the cleaning liquids made especially to clean goalkeeper gloves would do the best job.

Do not get fingersaves Aka Fingerbreaks

our goalkeeper broke his fingers with them, the consultant said to him never to get these gloves they do more damage than good.

buy normal ones, or try the adidas FingerTips they are good, or just get normal ones

I broke my finger using normal gloves. End of the day if someone hits it hard enough and you're either at full stretch or awkward position your fingers are going to break. No matter what gloves, unless like some metal ones mor something.

Hm, the goalkeeper was doing something wrong, not the gloves.

Why do you think pros use Fingersaves? ( Buffon, Shay Given etc ) Because they do indeed work. The new fingersave technology is quite amazing, you can flex as if you didn't have the fingersaves inside. I haven't tried them in a real match, but so far my only injuries with sort of fingersave was with the Uhlsport SupportFrame, which still allows fingers to bend back.

The consultant only said that because he had nothing else to say to him, so he blamed it on the gloves. If they did more harm than good, pros wouldn't be using them.
