I have been thinking of doing this for a while, to see who has the best heatsink for the money. I would like to compare some heatsinks, giving me a good idea on what to get.

Me, I have a crappy akasa (dont know the model)

So post:

Make and model: Akasa (crappy one)
Cost:£5.00
Processor: Pentium 4 Prescott 3.2GHZ HT
Idle temps: 32*C
Load temps:55*-60*C
Overclocked?: no
pics?: (cuz it did happen ) no pics for me

Make: Thermalright ultra-120 extreme with 2x120mm Thermaltake fans (which came with my case and are surprisingly quiet)
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600
Idle temps: 25 with C1 and Speedstep, 30 with them disabled
Load : 53°C on 2 cores, 45° on the other 2 cores; dunno how that is supposed to be possible, must be a bug/design error
OC: yes to 3.0GHz @ stock volts. CPU would do a lot more but my chipset (680i) won't go a lot higher without insane voltages with 4 dimms, a quad and SLi

It's because I read that the Q6600 doesnt work well with 780i.

So that the reason you will go for a less overclocking processor? maybe it will work okay with 790i.

Why not go with Ati crossfire? the pc wont look green anymore but you will have a wider selection of mobos available.

unless you want to go SLI, get an Intel chipset. Way better clockers

@ max and .Sup. I have good experiences with Nvidia than I have with ATi(burned out 9600Pro) and AMD(pins from 939 CPU broke off.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
