Hey guys, I'm currently looking to upgrade my computer because I think it's time.

Currently I'm running:

Windows XP.
4 Gigs of RAM
8600 GT Graphics
Dual Core 6000+ Processor
Asus E2N-E SLI MB.

I'd rather not change my MB, as I think it's too much of a hassle.

I'd like to get more FPS whilst recording with fraps, what do you guys suggest as an upgrade in general?
Freezer7Pro
I don't come here a lot anymore.

8800GT.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

TBH, upgrade the GPU and you are fine. The AMD x2 6000+ Processor ( Its and X2 right?) Is still a pretty decent CPU and should do fine.

If you want DX10, Go the 8800GT or one of the new AtI 38-- series.
But if you're not going to bother with DX10 see if you can find an old X1950 XTX, i have one, best card ive had, runs everything on high.

Other than that it's still a fairly good system.

I've heard it, but never quite understood.

What is DX10?

DirectX 10 is basically visual enhancements. Kinda makes everything look nicer, like perhaps explosions will look better and more realistic, clouds look more realistic etc.

Id say you're fine, just get that 8800GT. Then it'd be okay. The processor is fine ATM too.

Edit: But only Windows Vista has DX10.

Don't wont to switch to Vista ATM, I'll wait until BF3 comes out and if I need to run Vista, I'll get it.

Anyhow, thanks for the advice guys.

Well, I'd go for the 8800GT or Ati 38-- now, and once BF3 comes out, get Vista.

Around 250-270$ USD.

Then for about 320-350$ USD you can get a 8800GTS G92 revision, which is much, much better.
