I believe your book is mistaken. While there are some units in the USMC considered "special ops capable" (SOC), there are no designated USMC SOF ...yet. Force Recon is the closest they have to SOF, but they are still considered SOC USMC units, not dedicated SOF.

Always thought it didn't seem right.

Thanks for the Tip i could recommend "Ghost Force" by Ken Connor in return. You get allot of history and are shown the politics behind the scenes.

Besides that Gunslinger said it before, there´s no point ranking todays SF:s we don´t know. And i´m willing to bet they all have the same physical training basicly so no differences here. Not to forget we are not told when they do a sucessful mission only the failures reach our ears. ( mostly )

Delta got allot of shit after some of theirs so called failures but they were´nt to blame there were also major fuck ups on a higher level. To do a good job you must have the oppurtunity to do so.

The Iran mission also had the odds against them, bad weather, problems with the aircraft and stuff. But all special forces groups have had their bad moments. During the Falklands it was either the SAS or SBS that got into a blue on blue firefight with British Paras in the dark.

It apparently was an SAS blue on blue with an SBS patrol. No fucker informed either part that other chaps were in the area. Thats nothing a Chinook full of Paras almost got blown to kingdom come by an Artillery mission because the head shed did'nt inform them that they were using Chinook lifts up the mountain. Fortunatly someone saw the markings on the Chinook and radioed through to stop the fire mission.

For those that read SAS books l recommend that you take them with a pinch of salt at times. Some of it can be far fetched or embilished. I do recommend that you read a book called Daggers Drawn. It charts there earlier sucsess during WW II.

Oh on a completely different note l've just watched Rambo 4. Good film, but why the fuck did they make the SAS bod a chopper??? I've watched a few documentrys with SAS blokes in and they come across as down to earth blokes. Not complete throbbers!!
