- ~~~~Low end video card users are being fucked by EA~~~~
All you guys simply saying 'buy a new card' have no idea. You clearly don't have mortgages, children, commitments. I have 4 kids, work my ass off as 65 hours a week. My wife has Cancer, You any idea how much her drugs cost? Transport to the hostpital, time off work to look after the kids while she has another operation?
The fact is, my card 256 mbFX5700LE, is all I can afford at the moment and I've noticed a drop in performance since the new patch. Don't even talk to me about the frame rates on SF. EA said my card was min spec and they aren't kiddin, but I have to deal with it.
Just Pisses me off when people who have NO IDEA what hardship is, say 'buy a new card' like it's that simple. Wear my shoes, then wind your necks in.

I'm surprised that someone with 65 hours a week, 4 kids and a wife with cancer has the time to post on forums, AND play FPSs, TBSs maybe, but not FPSs.
Go care for your terminally ill great great granddaughter.

Thats your comeback? Weak dude. Don't speak to me anymore as I wasn't speaking to you in the first place.
Pet, that's one of the reasons I think this whole situation with the game not working and dropoff in performance is so crappy. Like you said not everyone can afford a new system, and some people that do have the money would rather spend it elsewhere. Like I said, you buy a game and you have the recommended hardware, you would expect it to work even through patches and updates.
Edit: If I believed in hell I would say you are going there Cosmo but I don't so lets just say your life has to be pretty shitty to say something like that to someone. You obviously have problems dude.

Come off it, you can't believe everything your told over the internet, and his name is pete, not pet.
hmm, who has the shitty life? the guy with everything he needs, or the guy with money problems and a wife who keeps falling down some stairs?

Moment of weakness on my part - shouldn't have mentioned my personal circumstances as they have no place here; it's just that - personal - and I left myself wide open for wankers like you to show how small minded you are. I have more important things to worry about than wasters like you , but I was trying to put my comments into the mix.
Flame me, but show some respect and don't insult my Wife. Good job you're hiding behind a computer, cos little dickweeds like you can't face reality. Say that to a real person and see what you get. Get a life.kR4MR wrote:

I have a 5500 Geforce 256mb card and I have the graphics cranked to low it can go and runs smooth and fast for me. Althought I wouldn't mind having a 6600 or 6800Gt 256mb card.<[onex]>Headstone wrote:

Dude I know how you feel. I am also on a tight budget. Plus I have 3 kids myself. I have a 256mb GeForce FX5500. Just saving up is all I can do. With my wife that needs prescriptions because of depression. AND IF ANY OF YOU MOFO's COMPLAIN OR SAY ANYTHING THAT OFFENDS MY WIFE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE A GIRL. OH WAIT YOU CAN'T AFFORD ONE. So, I know how you feel dude about limitations. I hope you wife gets better. I lost my grandfather, aunt and uncle to cancer and now my sisters husband is suffering from a brain Tumor. I hope all goes well for you man. Life can get better.petethecheese wrote:

x300 here, it's what..$120 Australian now?
I can run bf2 perfectly on medium.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I have X800XL 256mb.
My BF2 setting: First half in video options is on high and second half in video options is on medium. I will have little lag in first 20 seconds, but after that, it is smooth ride.
I think power supply is a weight option for your video card's performance. When I played Star Wars Battlefront (original), I did have X800XL with 400 Watt power supply. The graphic was good until I decide to buy 650 Watt power supply. Damn, it did show big different. I can see graphic more details in SWBF.
I assume if you increase power to video card, your game play will go smooth or better fps.
If you don't believe me, look at my specs for my tower...
2.4 ghz Petinum 4 HT
1.5gb Ram (kingston, 3 chips)
X800XL 256mb (ATI brand, AGP, replaced fan to Zalman VF700-Cu)
650 Watt power supply
ASUS PCP800 motherboard
You can see my specs considered as one to two years old, but I still enjoy playing BF2 after new patch installed.

I got a shitty x300 series and mine works fine. (although i do have 2.5gbRAM and 3.4 ghz pentium 4 ht ) . I play with the settings on medium or high and am usually first or nearly the first on the map!

Hate to most of these posts are right. If you cant stay somewhat current then why are you even playing. Its not a thought of cant afford it. Like somebody stated if you can afford a PC, broadband, Bf2 game and such you can save for a new video card. IF you have other matters at hand that need your cash to then why are you paying for broadband and BF2?
Games have the right to change all setting as they please its in the eula. You clicked agree upon installing the game. Shoot I remember playing everquest for 5 years and they changed the specs of it I think about 4 times shafting alot of players. EA builds a game to look feel and play to the way people want to see it. The drivers for most of these old cards dont support that. You knew at some point you would need to upgrade. Most of these cards are what 2-3 years old. I hate to say they are considered stone age video cards. Seriously you HS kids stop buying those $40 t-shirts or $80 pants that look beat to shit allready when you buy them. Wanna play the game then try staying close up to date with your PC. Dont expect to play games that come out next year on a cards 3-4 years old.

Colfax, your pushing your luck if you do. The minimum is the FX5700 for nVidia, Radeon 8500 for ATI. Your system might be fast enough that you can get away with turning somethings up.
