I have about 10 new harddrives that I need to test to see if they are good or not and if they have bad sectors etc., but I don't know how or what to use to test them.

They are all SataII samsung and seagates.

They are not formatted since they are new still in thier static bags.

Big K for any help.

This would work for verifying unformatted drives?

do they have to remain unformatted?

if not format and then check for bad sectors, I'm not sure, but tuneUp may have a utility for checking that sort of thing...I know norton used to, but i don't have it installed on my linux box at the moment, so i cannot tell you
