Requirements:

* Rank: Colonel
* Score: 180,000
* Awards: Expert Armor Badge, Expert Transport Badge, Expert Helicopter Badge, Expert Aviator Badge, Expert Air Defense Badge, Expert Ground Defense Badge

Lets look a bit at the awards:

Code:

Expert Armor Badge
  - 24 kills IAR
  - Total usage time         400h
Expert Transport
  - 11 road kills
  - 2000 driver points
 - Total usage time          150h
Expert helicopter
  - 24 kills IAR
 - Total usage time          400h
Expert Aviator
  - 24 kills IAR
 - Total usage time          300h
Expert Air Defence
  - 24 kills IAR
 - Total usage time          100h
Expert Ground Defence
  - 24 kills IAR
 - Total usage time          60h
----------------------------------
                TOTAL TIME:  1410h

That is 1410h of total usage time, then add the time when you are dead and running to these and the time when somebody else gets them before you (yes, whoring will start soon) and you end up with atleast 2000h of gameplay. To be realistic it's more like 3000h of game play.
Thats 125days of PURE game play, if you play like me (I work and have a GF and is considiered to play a lot) about 2h each day that is 1500days, or 4year and 40days before I have the time collected for all expert badges. Also meaning that I have to play 2h every day including every special holiday or vacation.

WTF?

also the new ranks are a bit strange in another way, sergant major is 30k above first sergant, but then it's only 10k to next rank, 2nd lt. Seems like DICE didn't think it through all that much, including the balance in the new patch. They just rushed something together in order to get it out...

Well naturally the top ranks are going to be for the handful of gamers that can somehow allow themselves to spend obscene amounts of time devoted to the game.

and that's fine, if this is their primary life activity than they should be the ones getting three stars or four stars or one star. good for them.

i don't play nearly as much as those people do so if i were able to attain a general rank i would probably have to come to the conclusion that the rank system is poorly designed. i just set my scopes on a rank that is challenging but attainable and try to get there in a few months with the limited time i do have.

Yeah surely. For now there's not that many that have 180k points, but the scores are continuosly incrementing. Just look at the amount of Sergant Majors... You're kinda right though, but I think after like 6months to a year many will be stuck at the requirements.

If you don't have the required badges before you have the required points for one of the Generals ranks will you be promoted if you get the badges? Or does it work like First Sergeant and Sergeant Major?

How does is work there? I thought you get promoted after getin all the badges when you got the points alredy before.

Like MrBrian said. You need a minimum of 1410 h in vehicles. Just look at the top 10 players. They get nearly 4 points a minute...... +/- 340'000 points!!!! Just in vehicles..... and some more points in infantery combat and some teampoints.....

I think we will see the first general stars after the first players will reach half a milion points.

You have to eran the badges before you have the points.

20,000 without all the badges: Master Sergeant
20,000 with all the badges: First Sergeant
If you earn the missing badges after your promotion to Master Sergeant you will NOT be promoted to First Sergeant. Same with Master Gunnery Sergeant/Sergeant Major.

You're right, a small typo there ;P It was supposed to be "Is anyone gonna be Brigadier General?" I was thinking of getting past Colonel when I wrote it and didn't realise it until now

The new ranks past Colonel are damn hardcore, I will admit. But, that's how they should be... when everyone and their brother is a general, something is wrong with the rank system. It'll be a while till we see people getting all vehicle gold badges, I think it's a good requirement for the top tier badges. I just think they should make the point requirements for those badges a little higher, because anyone who takes the time to get all gold vehicle badges is going to have way more than 260k.

but it should be say all kit + knife, pistol, command, explosives and one/two expert vehicle badge. Not the vehicles, then all the others for the next rank.
I think they set it the wrong way round.

Who is closest to allt he expert vehicle badges?

While it does seem unrealistic, I kind of like it. It means that all the 100% Karkand players with 69 billion points still won't progress past Colonel.

The only way it could have been better is if they substituted the expert badges for say, 50 hours on every map.

I'm just concentrating on my next rank, I'm just glad it's not at 200K anymore!
