What does he want to do with his bid for the White House? 
Is he trying to concervitized McCain? 
Will this hurt McCain in the general election? 
Will this stop McCain from going to the 'middle'? 
Or is Huckabee trying to force McCain to choose him as Vice President instead of Joe Lieberman?

I think he's trying to make the case for himself as a Veep, hoping that will pull the conservative base for the ticket.

I'll bet he's trying to keep McCain from pandering to the independents, or at least secure a spot in the race for the interests of religious right groups.

Well its not like he really has to live up to some awesome standards.  We haven't exactly great VPs for over 25-30 years.
