I'm watching a football (the real sport) match on tv between Caracas (Ven) and San Lorenzo (Arg) in Caracas. During the half time there was this guy talking to the whole stadium and saying BS about the good things Chavez is doing for Venezuela, he even mentioned the US but I couldn't understand that part, and ended all that crap with "el orgullo de ser venezolanos" or the pride of being Venezuelan.

Now is this right? I mean you attend to a football match and you don't expect an asshole making propaganda while you are waiting for the second half, do you?

I think Chavez is trying to brainwash every Venezuelan with all his BS and lies. This reminds me the kind of propaganda you can expect from a Communist regime.

Most Americans are Christian, so it doesn't really seem odd that we sing God Bless America. Hell, I'm an atheist, and that doesn't even bother me.

As for democratically elected.... well, Chavez's elections are shadier than ours are, by a longshot.

Do we measure leaders on merit or rhetoric? He (Chavez) is actually making moves that will benefit Venezuelan economy and project his power. Detrimental to the U.S.? Maybe..

The Monroe Doctrine still has weight almost 200 years later - It's time to let Latin American countries fabricate their standard of government, not us.

BTW - I don't care about the fact that after 9/11 God Bless America became a mainstay at BB games - just trying to relate (poorly I guess).
