Well dunno but the one who do the fastest shot win, managed to kill 2 or 3 sniper on one roof almost everytime. They did kill mme but in the end I won

L96 supposedly has a silencer, I don't doubt it, at one time this morning I found a sniper on the roof at Karkand while I was on the stairs at equal level, didn't hear a damn thing and I noticed 95% of my health was missing was missing and it was just before I launched a .50 from my M95 into his skull. Plus the L96 sounds really cool when you fire it, makes an awesome sounding echo and everything. In addition to that, it has extremely thin crosshairs on the scope, making headshots a breeze.

Good to see that the Wiki has been updated but I have one minor complaint. It says that the L96's design company is Parker-Hale, which was infact the designer of the L96's rival for the British armies sniper rifle contract to replace the Enfield L42. The Accuracy International PM became the L96 when it beat the Parker-Hale M82 to the contract, and was later updated to the L96A1 which is also known as an Arctic Warfare (AW).
I was also wondering about the L96A1 - it seems that it does 95 damage from some playing with it and also from the Wiki, but I was shot in the back by a friend with it yesterday and it only did roughly 60 points of damage. I'm guessing this was due to my having armour on (can't remember if I did have it) so it seems the L96A1 doesn't pierce armour like the M95 (this makes sense due to its 7.62 calibre).
The crosshair is very nice and i'll try to get a screenshot of it in a minute, its very useful for headshots and especially for killing ppl in the tops of vodniks, stationary guns, TOW's and AA. I thought it seemed to have a long reload time but according to the Wiki it is quicker than the M95 and M24 (does the reload time for bolt actions refer to the loading of a new magazine or the loading of the next round into the chamber?)

ok i think you answered my question, awp and p90 is unlockable even though euro forces isn't out. And screenshots would be great.

The L96 and M24 are exactly the same except that the L96 takes a bit longer to draw and the crosshairs are thinner on the L96.

yea...i heard you need the first unlock of the kit before the awp or p90. I did unlock the m95 too, but I was doubtful of DAO so i kept it unlocked. But basically yea you do need the DAO before the P90. Same rule applies to l96a1. And if I'm wrong I'm sorry. :p

I am a m24 fanatic, the only thing the m24 has better is a slightly higher speed it propels the bullet at, causing less bullet drop, I have tested really long range shots with both rifles, and the m24 is better for long range, which most people do not attempt. The L96 is a beast, sounds sexy, and the crosshairs make sniping too easy. I think more people are going to try and snipe now.
I've mastered the M24 and M95, the L96A1 is almost mastered already. Just had a little sniper-war with a fellow first sergeant, both of us using the L96A1 - Think I got about 30 kills to 4 deaths. Its a joy to use, sounds great and most of all its a weapon I can happily say I have experienced in real life that doesn't suck in BF2 (i've fired the L85A1, L85A2 and the L96A1 and they seriously disapointed me in this game)
I wish people would stop calling it an AWP - it's not a bloody AWP it's just a plain old AW. The AWP uses the same round as the L96A1 or AW it just has a slightly shorter barrel and is designed for Police rather than military. Its also not a 1 hit kill it does the same damage as the M24, if it was a 1 hit kill it would require no skill and would suck. People who want 1 hit snipers generally can't shoot for shit.
Theres the Reticule for you, shame it doesn't have some sort of vertical marking like some Mil-Dots to help estimate the bullet drop for long range shots, but its nice and thin.
