How did IMF policy result in the economic restructuring of Argentina? How is the Bank of the South going to address those concerns (Argentina accepted Hugo's "socialist" BOtS, as did many S.A. economies).sergeriver wrote:
I don't think Chavez is doing any good to Venezuela or Latin America at all. He's not very popular in Venezuela Tbh.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Do we measure leaders on merit or rhetoric? He (Chavez) is actually making moves that will benefit Venezuelan economy and project his power. Detrimental to the U.S.? Maybe..
The Monroe Doctrine still has weight almost 200 years later - It's time to let Latin American countries fabricate their standard of government, not us.
BTW - I don't care about the fact that after 9/11 God Bless America became a mainstay at BB games - just trying to relate (poorly I guess).
Chavez is doing more for South American economic stability than any other in the region. He may be outspoken (and indirectly challenging US dominance in the region), but what other State in the region is promoting self-sustainability, economically or militarily? You want your country and outlying regions to rely on US economic/Military support? I don't. You shouldn't either.

Up until recently, I figured we would be saying the exact same thing in the US in a year...sergeriver wrote:

Granted that the IMF policies didn't help the region, you can't argue that Chavez is helping either. Gladly, Argentina doesn't need to rely on anyone else coz we have all the resources we need. What I don't want is a clown wearing dictator clothes talking BS and trying to brainwash his people with lies and propaganda. And Latin America are different countries and stories. He doesn't represent Latin America, not me at least.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Don't include the good ole Bill. Hillary is a bitch but Bill is a good politician IMO.FEOS wrote:

Good politician is an oxymoron.

Venezuelans chose that path. Let them make their own mistakes. I agree that it's horrible gufftastic propaganda though. I might post photos of some propaganda billboards I saw in Cuba when I'm at home. Stuff like 'Vamos Bien' beside a massive smiling face of Fidel.
