I just bought TF2, gg me. I usually get around 1 mb/s, but for some reason, they've capped me at 400 kb/s. What? Excuuse me, where is my leet connection speed?

It's steam, they are releasing a shit ton of stuff via downlaods. Plus, they already have your money, they don't need to cater to you. Be ahppy that it even works (EA downloader).

Steam regularly gets sub 50kbps for me after it's been downloading something for half an hour, be patient.

Lol, my internet is capped at 100kb/s and I'm not even complaining, you're an impatient man my friend.
Hint: If you double click on the game while downloading it comes up with the progress bar and "ready to play" estimate time. If you leave that window open, your speed will be much higher and won't drop as much.
At least, that's what I found. I downloaded HL2 that way and I got 600 kbps.
