too bad you ruined a good argument. Now I'll have to smash your face in for raping my gf

In my experience properly maintained macs are not more reliable than properly maintained PCs. The dual-PIII system I installed Server 2003 on in 04 is still working nicely without any reformat
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

A mac is like a hot girl that doesn't put out, being with her makes you look really cool but you never get any action.
A PC is like a hooker. Doesn't quite seem as clean or pretty as the mac, but she knows what she's doing.

Any good, or complete fail?

Fail. OSX looks good and works well. It's not all about the looks, the way its laid out and the way it works makes it about 10 times easier to use than a PC. It can also cope with programs more efficiently than XP or Vista.

However, you can argue that XP and Vista can have games. Yeah, they can, but Macs aren't bought by gamers.

I have a PC, btw. Never owned a Mac in my entire life. But I respect their software and would pay to have it on my PC.

Ubuntu + Beryl = Best looking OS EVER !

(i'm a PC user, so no.... not a fanboy comment)

and i hate macs
Beryl doesn't exist anymore.

Also, I know Linux can look fancy, but its not as good as OSX. However many awesome upgrades you make to it, it's still not as good as OSX.
I just wish OSX was for PC. Then I would be a very happy bunny.
It is. So easy to get it running smooth on PC hardware. Unfortunately, you need the right hardware - but with a bit of forward planning it is easy.

I'd say that's almost entirely accurate. In many more ways than you've described there. I could add dozens of points to that analogy, 'tis good.

Dunno where you get the idea they are good for graphics and video processing....

They're good for editing, because Final Cut Pro >>> All.
They're good for music, because Logik Pro is damn good.
They're good for simple stuff, because they're Macs.

That's about it.

Ah so this would explain how shitty the Macs are at my work. I work at a student TV station, and everyone loves Final Cut Pro, so we've got three Macs. Unfortunately, they are all pretty slow, even after I close all running programs and even restart the computer. Absolutely pathetic. Yet another tic on my Why I hate Macs list.

Good argument? Its an OLD argument.
And worthless.
In some cases PCs are better (3D, word processing, gaming) in some macs are better (Video, audio, print graphics). Its like arguing which is better a .tiff or an .eps. It always depends. Its at the point where it is a preference. Nobody makes a "bad" computer, so it comes down to the OS. Apple makes the computers AND the OS. Linux I like. Windows, not a fan really hate their software and you wind up hoping the hardware was tested and will work under the situations you put it in.

In my experience the software makes the machine, great hardware with a crappy OS will cause problems. Sub par hardware with great software is good. As long as it works and lets me work. Seriously, I prefer to do Flash work on a PC but everything else -job wise- I prefer the mac. Software just works and is easy to drop drag, do whatever you want and keep organized.
I like and use both platforms, but hate arguments like this... just was bored so jumped in.

And while I did not rape your girlfriend I highly doubt you could smash my face in. But your welcome to try, punch your monitor, maybe it will effect me. Go on try it!

People who need to reinstall Windows all the time simply don't manage their PC properly. That is the big difference between Macs and PCs, PCs require quite intensive configuration to get them just the way you want them so they will run well for a long time, Macs do all of that out of the box - but I put that in the same bracket as simple OS, all of which is achievable on PC hardware using OSX86 running at higher speeds for substantially less money.
Oh and I have 10.5 up and running (at home and work) with no issues. Co-worker did run into problems but we think it had more to do with the apples "helvetica" problem. Overwrote the library font folder and all seems fine.
