The first computer was mechanic, i dunno anything about it, the second was electric and was made during the WW2, that's the one we got today.

How will the "Computer Version 3" or "the future computer" look like?

What do you think it will look like, performance etc?

My idea:
The limited bytes system (127 max) will be renewed, with like 1000 max or something.
Harddrives will be replaced with Flash memorys (like the RAM)
The processor will be biological, so it's hard to break and won't be needing any advanced cooling.
It won't be bigger then a external harddrive

So it will look something like this:

Perhaps you meant that the first was mechanically based and the second was transistor based.

Yeah, I was reading somewhere about biological applications into the computing industry, or some shit. I read it a long time ago, but there was some interesting ideas in it. It's not as far-fetched as some people would think.

Like a computer that runs on human respiratory system?

No, like neural pathways an biological tissue.

seems very future...probably will happen within the next generation

Mmm... a biological PC. Would I have to feed it?

Yes. Babies.

And you would pay for Windows Vortex with your soul.

I hope harddrives aren't flash-based. If I'm not mistaken, those are less reliable than a regular ol' HDD with 1's and 0's.

lmao! +1

I'd love something, that is incased within the monitor, and is no deeper than 1cm, that can laugh in the face (literally) of the high end games as it where.

The next computer is quantum based.

isn't flash still ones and zeros, just more difficult to corrupt

It's still quite far away. Atleast from what I've read. It's all still theory, and the only 'quantum computer' built AFAIK is only simulating quantum behaviour.

Using neural pathways and such on the other hand is so much closer, although I don't know how much closer, and could provide an awesome amount of processing power and bandwidth.

I read an article on quantum computing once - theorising that everything in the universe is a small quantum computer. If I recall correctly, stars were excellent processors and black holes pwnage storage devices

I'd hate that. But I can see it coming, every computer being equally powerful, equally large, equally programmed. The prices will then drop and drop.

Every computer, as powerful as they get. Nothing to upgrade, nothing to modify. It's perfect.

I'd hate that.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Don't worry that'll never happen, the human race always has to 'go one better' so there will never be equality in anything.

DNA computers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dna_computer
Though I don't see those appearing any time soon.

or possibly

Quantum computers.

Again I don't think we will be seeing either of these computers any time soon.
