Having 2 video cards on your motherboard (of the same make).
Nvidia's new 780i mobos can support 3 way Sli now, meaning you can use 3 video cards in your computer.

Also generally not worth the extra dollars unless you are using two of the best cards - for the same price as two mid range cards you can get 1 high end card which will be better.

you can have like for ATI cards in their equivalent to SLi (called crossfire).  But I'm an Nvidia user, SLi is not worth the money unless you are going to be running games at a really high resolution.  You can spend what you would on two cards and get one swell card for less money, what comps have you looked at?? We can pimp your rig here in the tech forums.. give us a budget!

Doubt it. Just went to tomshardware.com and looked up the benchmarks between dual 8800GTX 768mb and dual 8800GTS 640mb with the 8800GTX slighty ahead by half a cunt hair.

Ill stick with my 8800GTS 640mb SLI thanks......

(Altho the big surprise was the dual 8800GTS 320mb SLI outperforming both the dual 640mb AND the 768mb cards so go figure)

I want SLI. I want to run dual 20" monitors. But I don't have the money

As long as I can dream.

SLi has very little improvements (only like 20 - 30%) unless you're running huge resolutions.
