Hey fellas,

My question is this:

I have 2 GB of Crucial Ballistix ram right now, i have vista ultimate, and would like to put atleast another 2 GB of ram in my system if not 4+.  The problem is for a 4GB kit, Crucial does not make the same ram i have, nor does it make any 4GB kits at all.  Is it bad to mix RAM brands, timings, etc?

Karma to all who help...because im feeling nice and want to give out alittle love on VDAY.

Mixing brands is not a problem normally. Just make sure they have the same timing and more important the same speed.
Your system will always clock the whole RAM according to lowest speed avaiable.

I wouldn't recommend mixing if you don't have to, but I've mixed RAM types/speeds before.  The fact is that your system will simply use the SPD to time the RAM to the lowest common denominator.

so as long as my ram is DDR2 800 and running at a cas latency of 4 and timing is 4-4-4-12....i will be fine?

Pfff... sorry mate, can be a lot of help  there. I´m not a brand geek.
You may have to wait for the other tech pros around to help you what to choose.

Right now I´m running 4 gigs of Geil RAM in my System and as far as I know, you get some good bang for the buck with this brand. But don´t quote me on it.
