Are downstairs toilets stronger than upstairs ones?

Well are they? I never clog up my downstairs one. Maybe its the water pressure but then again its all contained in the cistern.

You might be right. I have one toilet upstairs and two down, and the upstairs one does tend to clog more often. Then again, that's the only one I use .

Water pressure only really matters for refilling the tank. As for flushing, it's all in the toilet design and condition on the drains.

Are your downstairs toilets masticating (has a pump that grinds *stuff* up). If the drain for the house is above ground level downstairs, then you have to have a pump to raise it. Most of these are masticating pumps.

upstairs should theoretically flush easier, more head pressure to the sewage pipe. There are actually toilets designed to pump flush up, so you can put one in your basement

I only have the one, and it's upstairs. And I don't eat stuff that clogs toilets anyway.

Although the valve in the cistern jams open if you don't use just the right pressure on the flush.

If your toilets on the upper floor arent flushing as well as thos on the lower floor...you may have a venting problem. Get up on the roof of your house and check that all the vents are open and clear.
If that doesnt equalize things, get a plumbing snake and snake out the upper floor unit, you may have a partial blockage.
Failing those, the plumbing contractor that built the place may very well have inserted a tee in the line backwards, or has used too small a line from the upper floor to the main drain exiting your house.

Yeah...most people in England do at least.

Yeah my downstairs bathroom is better. Better/more powerful shower + better taps...dunno about the toilet though, dont notice shit like that. Dunno what the fuck you guys eat.
