Here is a good post about the matter ,and it's not a rant about the ground AA. The new heat seekers completely killed the air to air combat aspect of the game .I know ground pounders will probably flame at this but they just don't get why we want to fly around and have dog fights I guess. http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=17993
Dogfighters dont need bombs and tv missles
If AA was to stay the same then EA should have created a flying platform for the sole purpose of eliminating air assets.
I played with the new AA and found that the amount of team damage also became somewhat lethal.
The new guys and inexperienced players are going to dish out major damage on flying friendlies.
The new AA creates way more balance.
The flyboys are going to see a drop in their K/D ratio right up until they figure out how to bunny hop or dolphin dive in the air

peacock33: What exactly does that have to do with the topic at hand?
I agree, dog fighting is ruined. It's not like there was much to it before, even more chasing, killing with machine guns. The air-to-air missiles needed improvement, but not that much improvement. Now, any monkey can fly behind another jet, loose their sidewinders and game over. Takes no skill, just like the ground-to-air missiles.
They can leave the ground-to-air missiles the same and just change the air-to-air missiles and I'd be happy. As it is, there is no joy in shooting someone down in the air anymore... the maneuverability of the missiles are just too good. There should at least be some way to evade air-to-air fire... as it is now, once you get behind someone, it's impossible for them to lose you. And if they can't lose you, they die. What's the fun in that?

The fun in that is that the target pilot is a rookie, a real Heat seeker would do the same i aint going to lose its target till there is a confusion between 2 heat sources (flares).
if ur locked and you want to survive, BAIL OUT! that saves ur K/D . and dont worry the enemy jet is also a goner if he gets locked....so there is less dogfigting...well what ya know...think EA should have created some Desert maps with 2 airfield and a whole lotta jets ? nope or else this game would be called somethin with Combat Flight Sim: Modern Dogfighting.

Most jets and bombers on the servers I played were very rarely engaged in dogfights but rather busy bombing the shit out of foot troopers or vehicles. Simple reason: If one run can easily kill 6 (a squad that captured a flag maybe) or a run can lead to one, perhaps 2 kills (bomber) with a lot of hard work, I doubt any honest person would say they'd prefer the latter.
So what are we actually debating here?
The first part of your reply is a very narrow minded view of air power. I kept the bomber out of the air when I played and if the fighter was being effective against my team it got my undivided attention. I used the machine guns to kill jets not the Uber noob missiles. We are debating the fact that the air to air aspect used to take skill ,but now my five year old can shoot people down. All he has to do is happen by a enemy jet, point and click = dead. Skilless You are debating the air to ground aspect ,so I believe this is where the confusion on your part comes from.AoP wrote:
