The anger and paranoia were directed at those similar to the ones who attacked us at the time. It's not a dumb argument...it's historical fact.
I'm aware of that, the point is it was a dumb action either way you look at it - either no-one or everyone should have been locked up.
BTW Al Qaeda declared war on the US and no notice was taken. Even the intel assessment said 'Bin Laden determined to attack inside the US' and no action was taken. My point is the US sits back and waits for events to happen then overreacts harshly - compounding the situation.

BTW I recommend every human being read '1984' and 'Animal Farm' before they vote in favour of things like the 'Patriot Act'

Didn't Bin Laden declare war on us in the mid/late 90's, and in response to the Cole attack, Clinton launched cruise missiles into Afghanistan?  I believe he almost got him too.

Whether it was dumb or not isn't the point. In the context of the time, maybe it made sense...it certainly doesn't now. Which would explain why we didn't round up all the Arab muslims in this country and inter them in camps after 9/11.

And comparing actions from over 60 years ago to actions from six years ago is apples and oranges. Taking two events separated by that amount of time--with the massive social changes that occurred in between--and the completely different reaction for each...your point at the end makes no sense.

I've read them both. Still no problems.
