I'm not the best chopper pilot, I'm certainly not the worst, I can dodge missiles sometimes and rack up a few points, but I hate flying with noobs as the gunner.

Yesterday I was playing, I said to a guy "Use the TV missiles" so we took off and there was a tank and an APC and a few enemies capping the flag....I waited...nothing...waited some more..nothing

Then he starts shooting the machine gun alerting them of our presence which leads me to unload 8 missiles on them all and quickly flying off for repairs.

We get back to base and I asked him why he didn't use the TV missiles and he said "To be honest, I don't know how"

So I made him get out and a much better player got in and we killed a lot of people.

The same thing happend again later on. I forgot what the maps called but its chinese vs usmc and you have the ESSEX (not Oman, but the one very like it) I approached the dock to see a tank, an apc and the other one all waiting at the flag, so I lifted my nose up so he could get a good aim and he starts shooting with the machine gun.

Needless to say we were dead in no time.

I hate it so much too! I love gunning (and i am at least decent with the missles), but I almost always fly just because people cant gun, fly, worth anything. With the new patch, I won't be in choppers much though.

Yeah i get it all the time.

Try telling him "right click to use TV".. that's what i do, with higher ranked players i'm being sarcy when i say that to em' though. lol

I try to advertise that I'm pretty good with the TV missle.
I'm not the greatist of pilots mind you, so I tend to infiltrate and steal the enemies chopper. I can get it back to a friendly helipad. That's were the trouble begins. I post the "Attack chopper pilot needed to [X] helipad" and request squad members to move to the helipad if I'm SL, but nobody picks up on it. When I'm ground pounding and I see a chopper flyby without a gunner, I'll comma the "Need pick up" and type out the TV missle adeptness, but nobody seems to take heed. I've got a fast CPU with little to no lag, and I'm no novice with the reaiming of the tv missle. It would seem that a good pilot would want a good gunner, but too many novices have cried wolf I guess.
With the new patch, elite gunners and pilots will emerge from the ranks though. Hopefully I'll get the chance to prove my worth. In the meantime, I'll continue to pratice flying in the local servers and single player.

I just hate when the Pilots jump on your azz about not using the TV missile... but they never aim the nose of the chopper correctly for me to get a good view.

I agree! Noob moronic gunners should stay away from the choppers all together! Machine gunning a tank or chopper that didnt previously know you were there! OMFG! Some people are so dumb!
Why is it so hard? Right click, left click! I have them lined up EXACTLY in the middle of there crosshair, yet it still has no effect! They either wont shoot the tv, or they will take soooooo long to fire that we are half dead by the time they do....

Then on the other hand, you get the even worse losers that think the TV missiles come in endless supply, and start shooting at random points on the ground for no apparent reason.. The other day, this guy is wasting all his TV's, then just after he wastes his last one ( i was counting.) there is a tank in sight, aggh what a surprise.. (oh, and by waste, i mean, NO kills, no where near any enemies...

Im sick and tired of people bitching about "n00bs" Everyone is a noob at one time or another. And the only way they'll ever stop being noobish is for us more experienced people to HELP THEM. People need to quit thinking they're all 1337 and uber skilled and to good for eveyone.

I mean all you have to do is ask someone if they know how to use the TV missle or what ever else it is if they seem like they don't know what they're doing. Sure the chat sucks in BF2 and your message is almost always never seen, but at least you gave an effort, and if it bothers you that much, DON'T FLY!

I also hate pilots whom don't seem to want to let you get a good TV missile shot in. Played (Daging? I think it was that one) yesterday, and I was gunner for a guy who was decent pilot, but he didn't seem interested in letting me shoot out the armor that was on the ground. It was annoying, but there was nothing I could do. I'm a much better gunner than pilot.

True, but I knew how to use TV missiles the first BF2 game I ever played during the demo. Their fault if they don't listen to the tutorial voice, or suggestions from other players.

i'm a heli pilot and i consider myself decent enough. The new patch is great now i can actually get the chopper without much worry about others wanting it when i manage to get shot out of the air, and i dont mind if no one comes gunner with me cause i can fire the missles myself. Now when i have a gunner i know that MY crosshair is there middle.. DONT USE THE little rectangle thing at the bottom that says GUNNERS VIEW, cause that only shows you which way the gun is pointing!!! so note to other pilots that think their gunner is not shooting any missles, FFS point your crosshair at the target and he'll actually see what you want him to shoot at!

Ummmm, dude! I am doubting that you are as handy in the chop as you are making out..... I will give you the red hot tip, that if you point your crosshair to the target, your gunner will be very low to it! The little rectangular thing is actually closer to the centre of the gunners crosshair. If you just put the target between the two, you will have no probs..
No need to be stubborn about it either buddy, i hope that you will take this and learn from it without thinking im having a go at you...

I agree with you that its great that the chopper is regularly there now...

if you have a crappy gunner talk to him on voip and teach him, its the only way to learn, i myself prefer pilot so i tell alot of people how to do it, just be patient, theres plenty more rounds after the one your having

There's two things I hate about choppers. Having to rely on a pilot. and having to rely on a gunner. that is why I learned to do both for myself. I went 32 and 0 by myself in a chopper on wake(pre1.2 ofcourse) but still it was quite an accomplishment. then a guy on my team was mad and said "stop whoring and come pick me up." so I did, and then I was waiting for him to TV something, and he didn't... so I got it with my missles and went back to base and told him to get out

Yeah I did tests out of curiosity when in an empty server, the little rectangle which has the direction the gunner is facing is also pretty much DEAD CENTER for the TV missile aiming.

hmm ahh well, i am handy in the pilot seat and no gunner has ever complained about positioning of the camera, my driver assists should relate to that, sorry if i seem a little stubborn but i'm having a shit of a life right at this moment, health and parent wise, but not goin to go into my life story yes TrigZ.[±] is my nickname on BF42 and yes was a Ihug Regular and a NetGamer regular aswell when that was around, heh what was your nick on there?

Thats a negatory ghostrider. Only the mec chopper and maybe the sf choppers (i dont play sf) have their tv missiles aimed in the same area as the gunner view box. The cobra and z-10 are about halfway between the pilots reticule and the gunners view.

I would expect that Skruples also knows what he is talking about, he has similar chopper time and kills to me, and it appears his fave map is Dalian Plant aswell.... So Skrupes, im sure you do what i do aswell...
Oh, but ive got less deaths than you, does that mean anything? lol, just kids mate..

Oh, btw, with the SF choppers, they are way different again, even more than the MEC chopper. Thats actually a good way for noobs to practice lining up there gunners in BF..
