Graphics Card Decision...

I just need some quick help on comparing a few video cards. Currently I have a simple 8400GS (512mb) and I am selling that to a friend so he can get started playing some newer games. After getting rid of the 8400GS I plan on getting a new card and would like to get an 8800 but $300.00 is my max. Below I have included a few cards from NewEgg and would just like peoples opinions so that I can then turn around and make my decision. Think of it this way... If You were ME which would you pick? Also please let me know WHY you would select a certain one instead of the others.

GTS > GT.. More Stream processors, better cooling, higher clock.

Edit: You can OC that 10mhz difference easily to make them even.

It has the best cooler. It is fastest. And looks like it is cheapest out of those three cards after the rebate. And eVGA support is great.

The GTS. It's cheaper and faster than the others, an excellent buy, get it ASAP.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Why not? There's a pretty big performance difference between the GT and GTS and to step up for only 30 bucks more is better than getting one in like 5 months for full price.

And get the GTS, by the way. Faster, and it's EVGA...so when the 9 series comes out in a few months, you can use their "Step Up" program and get a better card and only pay the price difference. Say the GTS is $290, and the 9 series comes out and a card is $400, you'd only have to pay $110. Plus, EVGA's customer support is incredible.

well it might be but saying it get 1000 fps more is kind of misleading to me. and from what i've seen 1000 points isn't as big of a difference as it sounds. My pc stock vs oc has more than 1000 pt difference and i honestly can't tell the difference in game.

But if you've got fast RAM, you might do BF2/CoD4 on medium settings. BF2 runs fine almost maxed at 1280x1024 on a 7300GS...
